A Good Story is Worth Repeating: The Adult Industry and What the Cards Have to Say

From www.adultcybermart.com – You may have met Crazy Mary. I think everyone else in Philly did. This woman loved sex. She loved porn, loved fucking while watching porn, and she loved to make your life miserable in between porn features. In fact Mary could have been a porn star.

Sometimes you put up with misery and grief to have great sex and that was the case with her. As nuts as Mary was, at the end of the evening you could always expect a sizable reward for putting up with her psychotic, bipolar, whacko bullshit. Until one Saturday night when Mary announced that she couldn’t see me any longer.

Why? Because her tea leaf reader told her so. And Mary was steadfast about this life altering advice she received because the tea leaf reader gave her a physical description of the guy she should be with, and I didn’t match the physical description. It was like being in a New Age police lineup. So, abracadabra, I disappeared.

There’s a lot more to this nutty story, but the Mary episode got me interested in the study of Tarot Cards and why people are so influenced by them, astrology, tea leaves, regular playing cards and other forms of divination. In the 30 years since I last saw Mary, I’ve done thousands of Tarot readings and am always discovering, in a constant learning process, some new facets and quirks of the human condition to bring to my repertoire.

With the adult industry being in the state of flux that it’s in, we decided to check in on some of its principals and see what the cards might have in store for them. Here’s a quick summary of what the cards portend:

Because AVN and XBiz are the two biggest fortune tellers in the business [you pay them, and they’ll tell you how great you are in proportion to how much you’ve paid], we’ll start with them.

AVN has long been the subject of rumors about their sale. From the time I was there, there was always the whispers about Larry Flynt or some other entity taking over.

Depending who you believe, AVN is either currently Cypriot-owned or Brazzers-owned. But by the end of the year, whoever’s holding the bill of sale, there will be a major announcement of a transfer of ownership. At present, look for someone highly connected with the company to be leaving.

There will be major editorial changes. There’s also a lot of pressure and tension involving money and someone may have sold someone else a bill of goods. We saw a similar thing internally with ClubJenna right before we predicted [correctly] that Jenna Jameson and her husband Jay Grdina would be splitting.

The same “audit” vibe is showing in the AVN cards, and we expect to see many policy changes across the board over there as a result of a lot of the current plans not working out.

XBiz: XBiz has always been regarded as the new kind on the block, and the cards are saying the adult industry can no longer support both the new kid and AVN.

Meanwhile, XBiz is dealing with some troublesome internal issues involving female employees and there are projects that aren’t getting off the ground. As a result, they’re being shunted to the back burner. There are quite a few similarities to AVN’s reading. And, as with AVN, the cards also see some employees leaving in the immediate future. Overall, if you were to compare this reading to AVN’s, however, the feeling is that XBiz has got more going for it right now in terms of positive energy and can weather changes more resiliently.

In the two man sack race, the money right now is on XBiz. Whereas AVN management has been playing the aloof, Howard Hughes game, XBiz is way more accessible and that’s very much to their benefit.

Free Speech Coalition: AIM is dead. At least AIM as we know it. But how about the Free Speech Coalition? Their work and goals seem to be heavily favored. This organization has the luck card very much with them. Unlike the AVN and XBiz leadership which appears to be in flux, FSC looks fairly rock solid although they now become the new target of affection from the Aids Healthcare Foundation and the mainstream press pitbulls.

Look for either a physical move of headquarters or moves simply in the sense of changing URL addresses or web servers. The financial card looks particularly strong for them as FSC seems to be working on a new revenue stream.

Porn WikiLeaks: Fans absolutely love this site which should tell porn performers a thing or two about fan loyalty. That and the pursuit of free porn. Who’s ever the Mr. Big running Porn WikiLeaks is one of those people who can turn lemons into lemonade. Sorry. Nobody’s hitting them with any lawsuits if you figure the knight in shining armor is coming to the rescue.

Porn Piracy: The truism that no one gets rich but the lawyers holds fast in this instance. Look for more defeats in the courtroom and more industry cheerleaders telling you we can beat this thing. No you can’t.

The FriendFinder IPO: Today’s Opening Bid $10 … High $10.01 …. Close $7.85. And it’ll only get worse. Besides, these guys showed me what cheapskates they were when it came to banner advertising so I put the booga-booga on them. There’s no way back from that.

Reality Kings and their Underage Lawsuit: I figured on a way different reading, but, surprisingly, it looks like this whole thing goes away for them. So if Reality King’s adversaries look to be doing a jig over the Bieyanka Moore incident, they’re going to have to go to another grade school dance to get their jollies. A pretty strong reading and a way better bet than FriendFinder.

Shelley Lubben and The Pink Cross Foundation: Resilience is the watchword both where this organization and its leader are concerned. A charging rhino stands less of a chance against a snub nose .38 than Lubben against all the insults and vitriol you could pile on her. The Pink Cross Organization recruits many more women claiming to be victims of porn, and Lubben will probably win some kind of humanitarian award [don’t laugh] acknowledging her work in that field. That old saw about being totally misunderstood seems to apply to Lubben. The Lord must indeed work in strange ways.

Sasha Grey: Sasha made a recent announcement that she was retiring from the adult industry and wasn’t doing porn anymore. I don’t know. The cards indicate that she would be back in the Scorpio period [late October to late November] of this year.

One thing’s for certain. She’ll never be at a loss for money or opportunities for making it, though fashion is not her strong suit nor is politics [i.e., the art of the schmooze]. So, the way it reads, this industry hasn’t seen the last of her. And who would be surprised?

Rising Star PR [requested by DCypher]: Devan at Rising Star Public Relations is a brave man to make this reading public. However, besides that virtue, the cards for his company also reflect a discipline as well as patience and strength to overcome the day to day porn BS. True to their word could be this company’s motto. There is a problem in the way of an obstacle right now that needs to be resolved and that will be taken care of. Outside of the fact that one of his employees may be leaving [which could be the problem], I see very good things for this company; and as the year progresses, should they continue to follow form, will be in a stronger position now than they’ve ever been with many more clients coming aboard.
