NOVATO, Calif.—Final jury selection is set to begin in the case against a porn mogul’s son accused of killing his ex-girlfriend after a Marin County judge ruled the man could not serve as his own attorney.

The Marin Independent Journal reports that about 170 potential jurors are expected in court on Tuesday for final jury selection in 29-year-old James Mitchell’s trial.

Superior Court Judge Kelly Simmons a day earlier rejected Mitchell’s request to fire his attorneys.

Simmons said Mitchell’s lawyers had already screened more than 1,000 potential jurors.

She also rejected a request by Mitchell’s attorneys to withdraw from the case.

Mitchell has pleaded not guilty to murdering his ex-girlfriend, 29-year-old Danielle Keller, and kidnapping their 1-year-old daughter in July 2009.

He is the son of Jim Mitchell, who directed the 1972 porn movie, “Behind the Green Door.”
