Anthony Weiner’s wife, Secretary of Clinton’s close aide Huma Abedin, is set to return from a trip to the Middle East and Africa, one of the women who corresponded online with the congressman — former porn star Ginger Lee — is set to hold a news conference in New York early Wednesday afternoon to discuss the interactions with the embattled lawmaker.

It’s another distraction that Weiner probably would prefer to do without as he seeks treatment for an undisclosed condition and works to save his career and marriage.

A spokeswoman for Rep. Weiner had no comment anticipating Lee’s newser, where the former adult actress is expected to explain her Twitter and e-mail relationship with Weiner.

The presser is set to begin at 12:30 p.m. at the Friar’s Club in Manhattan. Lee will be accompanied by her attorney, Gloria Allred.

After Weiner posted the infamous lewd photo on his official Twitter account, Weiner reportedly attempted to do some damage control and instructed Lee via multiple emails to lie about their communications.

On June 1, he emailed her: “The key is to have a short, thought out statement that tackles the top line questions and then refer people back to it. Have a couple of iterations of: ‘This is silly. Like so many others, I follow Rep. Weiner on Twitter. I don’t know him and have never met him. He briefly followed me and sent me a dm saying thank you for the follow. That’s it,'” according to an email obtained by TMZ.

On June 2, Weiner emailed Lee, “Do you need to talk to a professional PR type person to give u advice? I can have someone on my team call. [Yeah, my team is doing great. Ugh].” TMZ reports that the same day Weiner sent Lee a proposed statement she could give to the press: “I have nothing to do with the situation involving Rep Weiner. I follow his twitter feed. And for a brief time he followed me. Much has been made of the fact that I have posted about my admiration for Rep Weiner and his politics. All I can say about that is that I’m a fan of his. Rep. Weiner sent me one short direct message thanking me for following him. I have never met Rep. Weiner and he has never sent me anything innappopriate (sic) …”

According to a news release promoting today’s news conference, Lee “will explain how the relationship began, what Congressman Weiner asked of her when the scandal became a problem and whether or not she still supports Congressman Weiner. Ms. Allred will discuss the next step for Ms. Lee.”

Weiner is reportedly seeking treatment for an undisclosed condition at an undisclosed location. Despite calls for his resignation from President Obama, House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi and House Speaker John Boehner, Weiner has been granted a two-week leave of absence from the House of Representatives.
