PayPal Users may Get Settlement

WWW- PayPal Inc., a subsidiary of eBay Inc., is notifying customers that they may be eligible to share in a $9.25 million settlement. Millions of online shoppers who used PayPal between October 1999 and January 2004 may be entitled to a payment from the class-action settlement.

PayPal has agreed to pay $9.25 million to settle a class action lawsuit over allegations it violated the federal Electronic Fund Transfer Act by restricting users’ access to their accounts.

The company denies any wrongdoing.

PayPal acts as a middleman for payments in online shopping.

Instead of sending personal checks or credit card information to sellers over the Internet, buyers provide PayPal with their credit card information.

PayPal then issues payments to sellers.

PayPal customers who think they may be entitled to cash from the settlement fund can file claims at PayPal Claims.

All claims must be filed by Oct. 23, 2004.
