I wonder how many wannabe lawyers were scared away from the profession by Charles Kingsfield.

The pompous Professor Kingsfield, played quite officiously by veteran actor/director John Houseman [pictured], was seen in the film Paper Chase and the TV series of the same name.

Week after week the Ivy League elitist Dr. Kingsfield sent First Year Law students curling into fetal positions under the covers wishing they had listened to their parents and become morticians.

Dr. Kingsfield’s specialty was Contract Law. Something law schools make you study in order to get a degree so you can later set up a lucrative practice, smoke cigarettes, sue people and screw hot leggy divorcees like in the movie Body Heat.

Unfortunately if you graduated in Dr. Kingsfield’s class, you’d be retiring by now and possibly too old to enjoy modern law as it’s now developing.
