from www.theage.com.au – THE man accused of strangling adult industry veteran Johanna ”Jazzy-O” Martin to death mouthed ”love you” to family members in the Melbourne Magistrates Court this past week.

Police allege Steve Constantinou, 48, killed Ms Martin and dumped her body less than five kilometres from his Port Melbourne home on October 11.

The 65-year-old grandmother’s body was found wrapped in a blanket later that afternoon.

Constantinou made no application for bail and was remanded until March 8.

Magistrate Ian von Einem heard Constantinou had never been in custody before. Constantinou mouthed ”love you” to his family members when he entered and left the courtroom. Several of his family members left the court in tears after the brief hearing.

Friends of Ms Martin’s were also in court but declined to comment.

Homicide detectives had revealed during an out-of-sessions hearing at the St Kilda Road police complex on Thursday night that an autopsy had shown that Jazzy-O was strangled and beaten.

Ms Martin was well known in the adult entertainment industry for her ”extreme” acts, which made her a millionaire. She also owned several properties and a late-model Mercedes.

Ms Martin, who has adult children and whose husband died a few years ago, worked as an independent in the sex industry.

She was the oldest worker in the industry and fellow workers started taking extra security precautions when they heard of her death.
