www.brisbanetimes.com.au – A Queensland couple, who lured a 13-year-old girl into their home and subjected her to nearly 15 hours of sexual and physical torture, were high on methamphetamines, a court has been told.

The 33-year-old woman and 42-year-old man, who cannot be named for legal reasons, pleaded guilty in the Supreme Court in Brisbane today to 30 charges, including 13 counts of rape and seven counts of indecently dealing with a child, for what was described as being one of the worst sexual attacks in the state’s history.

The woman pleaded guilty to an additional charge of attempted murder.

The 13-year-old girl was bound and gagged and then subjected to dehumanising, sadistic sexual abuse during the evening of April 16, 2010 and into the next morning, prosecutor Michael Byrne, SC, told the court.

The couple lured the girl to their home, about 90 kilometres north-west of Brisbane, through text messages, in which they posed as the woman’s daughter inviting the child for a sleep over.

Before collecting the child from her home north of Brisbane, the woman, who required a sign language interpreter in court, sent a text message to her defacto partner saying; ‘‘I’m really looking forward to tonight”.

When the woman eventually collected the child she handed a note to the girl’s mother explaining why her own daughter was not in the car at the time.

Upon their arrival at the Bellthorpe property, the man approached the 13-year-old from behind and held a knife to her throat.

The couple then forced the girl into their bedroom, where they proceeded to tie her to the bed and subjected her to ‘‘continual and violent offences’’, Mr Byrne said.

Their four-month-old son was in the house at the time.

In the course of the attack, the couple cut the child with a used syringe and forced her to lick her own blood from her fingers and the man’s penis, before placing chilli seeds in her mouth and in her genitals.

Both continually yelled abuse at her and wrote degrading words on her body.

‘‘Whenever she resisted he abused her and slapped her,’’ Mr Byrne said.

The following morning, the woman wrapped a rope around the child’s neck and attempted to strangle her, but stopped when her partner interfered.

The couple then drove the child home, where she and her mother reported the matter immediately to police.

The man and the woman were arrested later the same day and have since remained in custody.

The court was told the couple had previously discussed their violent, sexual fantasies and had each injected themselves with powerful methamphetamines before carrying out the attack.

At one stage they told her she could leave if she pointed out another ‘‘hot, pretty chick’’ for them from school photographs belonging to the woman’s daughter.

Mr Byrne described the sadistic humiliation inflicted upon the girl as not only being a parent’s worst nightmare, but the worst nightmare of any of any right-minded member of the community.

‘‘The extent of that breach of trust that occurred is so massive it is difficult to describe,’’ he said.

Mr Byrne argued the woman should be sentenced to life imprisonment, as a result of her attempt to strangle the child, while her partner be jailed for between 17 and 20 years.

Justice Martin Daubney will sentence the couple on Monday.
