from www.timeslive.co.za – The Daily Mail, TheWrap and the Hollywood Reporter say the GI Jane actress has joined the cast of Lovelace, which is currently in production. Moore will portray Steinem in the film about the life of 1970s porn star Linda Lovelace.
The title role was to be played by Lindsay Lohan, but she was dropped from the production due to her very public personal problems. Amanda Seyfried has since stepped into the role. Interestingly, Seyfried and Lohan were castmates on Mean Girls. Seyfried has since appeared in the films Mamma Mia!, Dear John and Red Riding Hood.
Other stars in the film include Hank Azaria, Sharon Stone, Peter Sarsgaard and Chris Noth, while James Franco is rumoured to have bagged a cameo as Playboy founder Hugh Hefner.
TheWrap reports that a second, separate Linda Lovelace film is in production, titled Inferno: A Linda Lovelace Story.
Lovelace – real name Linda Boreman – gained notoriety and cult icon status following her lead role in the 1972 porn film Deep Throat. She later became an anti-pornography activist, claiming that she was forced to participate in Deep Throat against her will.
She testified before the pornography commission summoned by President Ronald Reagan in 1986 and is widely quoted as saying: “When you see the movie Deep Throat, you are watching me being raped. It is a crime that movie is still showing; there was a gun to my head the entire time.”
Lovelace died in 2002 aged 53, from injuries in a car accident.
