In honor of Valentine’s Day Vator.TV, whoever they are, ran an article about different dating sites, making note that the hooking-up business is worth billions, annually.
“Last year, Match.com banked $480 million, eHarmony brought in $270 million, and FriendFinder Networks made $233 million from advertising, fees and other services,” says the article.
“In fact, estimates show that in the next three years, a majority of people will have met a mate for an online forum such as a dating site.”
Maybe that’s all true, but from what I can gather Vator.TV seems to be very casual about some of the other facts and stats it dispenses.
For example, it states this about one of the dating sites: “Surf Date [www.surfdate.co.uk] helps connect surfers that want a dawn patrol paddling buddy or someone to take a surfing trip to Bali with. The site has 447,000+ members and has hundreds of new people joining daily.”
The sounds pretty impressive but when you check the Alexa stats against the bragging rights, you find:

For Cupidtino.com, Vator TV tells us: “Cupidtino is focused on helping people with iPhones meet one another wherever they are.” We’re also told Cupidtino.com [a truly stupid URL name] has 32,000 users. However the Alexa Rankings give us a whole different picture:
Cupidtino.com : Alexa [World] Traffic Rank: 498,136; Traffic Rank in US: 114,793
I could go on but I’ve made this point before. People lie about their traffic stats.
