San Diego, California- from www.dailymail.co.uk – Authorities investigating the disappearance of Marine wife Brittany Wrest Killgore said a suicide note of the prime suspect contained key details about the case, including the location of a body.
Authorities in California are now reportedly examining a possible link between Killgore, the suspect, and a seedy sex ring.
A body believed to be Killgore, 22, who is married to a Marine currently deployed to Afghanistan but filed for divorce a week ago, was found yesterday in Riverside County.
ABC 10 reported that officers later responded to a Ramada Inn near the San Diego Airport, where they found a woman with stab wounds all over her body in an apparent suicide attempt.
That woman, Jessica Lynn Lopez, 27, was arrested at the scene and currently under observation at the UCSD Medical Center.
A neighbour, who declined to be identified, told ABC 10 that both Lopez and the victim took part in some kind of sex ring.
She said: ‘They’re into the sex slave things… I try not to judge, but that’s what they’re into’.
Sheriff’s deputies reportedly found a suicide note in the hotel room that contained details about Killgore’s disappearance.
The San Diego County Medical Examiner is working to positively identify the body, as well as the woman’s cause of death.
Killgore went missing on Friday, shortly after filing for divorce last week from Lance Corporal Cory Killgore.
Her cellphone was found in the Gaslamp District of downtown San Diego, but authorities said it was unclear whether she actually left Fallbrook, where she lives.
Investigators said she had been seen with another Marine named Louis Ray Perez, 45, but authorities have not disclosed the nature of their relationship.
Authorities have said Cory Killgore is not suspected in the disappearance of his wife, who neighbours say was not taking their marriage seriously.
Neighbour Simeon Pagdilao told KABC: ‘She’s been doing her own thing telling everyone for a bout a year that she’s been planning on getting a divorce. Everytime he goes away, like to training or Afghanistan, she decides it’s time to party’.
‘We do believe that there is a strong likelihood that Brittany was the victim of foul play,’ sheriff’s spokeswoman Jan Caldwell said.
Perez, was arrested Sunday on an unrelated charge of possessing a stolen AR-15 rifle from Camp Pendleton, but is believed to be linked to Killgore’s disappearance.
He remains jailed on $500,000 bail and has refused to cooperate with investigators. He is scheduled to appear in court later today.
Cory Killgore was deployed to Afghanistan earlier this year as a vehicle operator.
‘Everyone attempts to move at the speed of light in Afghanistan when there’s a bonafide emergency,’ Lim said about Killgore’s return to California. ‘It’s always been “mission first, Marine always.”‘
Brittany Killgore had told friends she was going to spend Friday evening in the Gaslamp Quarter in San Diego. Police do not think she ever made it there, but her cell phone was recovered in the area.
Sheriff’s lieutenant Larry Nesbit said Perez, who is based at Camp Pendleton, was questioned about Killgore’s disappearance.
In an interview for KTLA 5 News Nesbit added: ‘Based on the totality of the circumstances – the fact that she is in normally in constant contact with her friends but she has not been heard from since Friday and the fact that Mr Perez was less than forthcoming in his interview with us – we believe that there there is a strong likelihood Brittany is the victim of foul play’.
