India Summer was on James Bartholet’s Inside the Industry show this past week talking about her role in the Adam & Eve parody of Dallas. Summer was a huge fan of the original show.
“It was a Friday night special for me,” she explained.
“I would pop popcorn and either watch it with my parents or alone as a total geek. I loved it.”
After she got over the idea of becoming a Dallas Cowboy cheerleader, Summer said she wanted to become a soap opera star, so being in the parody came close to fulfilling a dream. [Summer has had bit parts on the TV shows Sons of Anarchy and Dexter.]
In Dallas XXX Summer plays the Pamela character made famous by Victoria Principal.
“She [the Pamela character] started out pretty straight forward and tried to be a good person in the beginning; of course she got caught up in all the bullshit and became evil like everyone else,” said Summer.
“But I think she was classy and she had luscious boobies.”
Asked who’s been a big influence on her, Summer replied that before she got into the adult industry she was a huge Nina Hartley fan and still was.
“I’ve had the pleasure of meeting her and working on sets with her as well; I think she’s a fabulous person-actress. I would also have to say Julia Ann. I love her as a person, her spirit, her heart.”
Summer said probably the best advice to give anyone coming into the industry is to know what your goals are, what you want to get out of the industry and use it for your own benefit and not let it use you.
“And do not do anything you don’t not want to do.”
Summer, who started her porn career at age 30, was asked what she had done prior.
“I had many years to do lots of things. I was working in finance; I had already gone to college and got my teaching degree and I was just living, swinging and making my own videos for fun,” she says.
“I was swinging with my husband in Iowa and filming our own things for our own enjoyment. I decided to get freaky and be available to do adult movies. They responded and I so I came out here.”
Bartholet said Summer is one of the best actresses in the business and what she did in The Graduate was spectacular.
Summer addressed the question of whether it was important now for porn performers to also be good actors.
“I think ‘important’ is a loaded word,” she responded.
“I think it would be nice. Especially with everyone doing so many parodies and having them rely on the aspects of other characters, but, I don’t know. I think there’s still a bunch of fans who are, like, I don’t give a shit about the talk and what-not before. And then there are some people that do. So I think it’s a handful of yes and no. I enjoy it because I enjoy the acting aspect of it and the process of acting with other co-workers and having that experience on set. But I don’t know.”
