from www.bhcourier.com – Beverly Hills is the new home of the global headquarters for Playboy Enterprises Inc. after a ribbon-cutting ceremony Tuesday afternoon made it official.
Playboy founder and editor in chief Hugh Hefner was on hand to help welcome Playboy to the 45,000-square-foot space at 9346 Civic Center Drive.
“If Hef could rewrite his life, he might have started it right here in Beverly Hills,” Playboy CEO Scott Flanders said. “Beverly Hills is obviously the most glamorous place in the universe.”
Playboy previously had offices in Beverly Hills, but its global headquarters had been in Chicago, Ill. before the move to Beverly Hills.
The entire City Council, along with past Mayors Jimmy Delshad, Joseph Tilem and Vickie Reynolds, and Playboy Executive Vice President Dick Rosenzweig were among the dignitaries on hand for the ribbon cutting ceremony.
“Playboy is a world-renowned company and the fact that they chose Beverly Hills to open up their headquarters is a statement to the quality of Beverly Hills,” Councilmember Lili Bosse said.
Playboy signed the deal to return to Beverly Hills last November.
“It’s a great delight to be back in Beverly Hills, the greatest little city in the world,” Rosenzweig said. “It just seemed logical that Beverly Hills is where we belong.”
According to Mayor Willie Brien, Beverly Hills currently generates roughly 75 percent of its revenue from the business community, making the retention and acquisition of world-class businesses a “priority” for the City.
Playboy has been a media mainstay since Hefner released the publication’s first issue in December 1951 with Marilyn Monroe on the cover.
