We’ve all the read the stories about how porn is anywhere from a billion dollar a year business to a $14B one. And you’ve probably absorbed the canard how porn takes in more, annually, than Major League Baseball, the NFL and the NBA combined.

So if all of that is true, how does the AHF which takes in a “scant” $200M a year by comparison outspend Big Porn to pass Measure B? Frankly, we’re puzzled.

The only conclusion I can draw is that people like Diane Duke and company owners like Steve Hirsch don’t really care about the performers and aren’t going to spend the money necessary to keep porn jobs in LA.

Larry Flynt this week suggested shooting in Mexico. Did you ever ride a Mexican bus to go on location? It’s quite a treat, but not like the lavish digs that Larry Flynt Publications is used to in Beverly Hills.

I remember years ago when Adam & Eve financed a Nicholas Steele expedition to Venezuela to make a movie called Emerald Rain. The cast included John Decker, Dale Dabone, Evan Stone, Rita, Faltoyano, Jewel Valmont [Ava Vincent] and Brianna Banks. Depending whom you talked to, it was like the Bataan death march. With the exception of Steele being fanned by natives, hot and sweaty performers scrambled for eatable food and lived in godawful conditions.

The point being, did Phil Harvey of Adam & Eve leave the plush confines of his offices in North Carolina to make sure the performers weren’t being mistreated? Of course not.

I’ve been on sets like that. She’s not lying.

The conclusion is readily drawn. The owners simply don’t care. They won’t be the ones moving out of LA any time soon, you will.

This week Diane Duke commented to Reuters: “After being heavily outspent by a well-financed AIDS Healthcare Foundation which poured millions of dollars into passing Measure B, the adult film industry will not just stand by and let it destroy our business.”

What exactly is Duke’s plan? [Duke, by the way, will not be moving out of her FSC offices.] Is it the same plan where she was bringing insurance coverage to performers? We have yet to see her make good on that promise which she made on Colin Rowntree’s Internet show several months ago.

So how could this massive business be outspent on Measure B?

If you take what I just said into consideration, you already know the answer.
