SIOUX FALLS, SD – from www.keloland.com – They say they were scared, ashamed, and afraid of the power former adult store owner David Eliason claimed to have in Sioux Falls.

During the second day of Eliason’s civil trial two women who said they were raped by him took the stand.

It was an emotional day of testimony as Eliason, who is acting as his own attorney in court, was allowed to question the accusers who say they were raped by a man who portrayed himself as a powerful porn shop owner.

The first woman who took the witness stand says Eliason raped her in his office at Annabelle’s Adult Store in Sioux Falls in October 2007, about a month after she started her job as a cashier.

She says she remembered Eliason wearing a denim shirt and jeans and detailed how he took off his brown belt.

After the rape was over she testified that, “He told me if I told anyone I would never get another job in this city again.”

A second cashier testified that Eliason raped her two different times while in the vacant unfinished theater at Olivia’s adult store in Tea within a month of the store opening. She says Eliason forced her in a side door of the building as she was leaving work.

She testified when she became pregnant Eliason even gave her money for an abortion.

When Eliason cross-examined the first victim he had to stop for a five minute break in the middle of his questioning because she became too emotional.

Eliason asked the woman several questions and pointed out that she had a vague memory of other details but knew exact details of the rape.

The women said they never went to the hospital to have exams done and didn’t report the sexual assaults to police right away because Eliason would always tell them he knew a lot of people in town and it would take a lot of money to beat him in court.

They say they were scared, ashamed, and one of the victims said she even feared for her life.

But they gained courage when they heard each other’s stories and that’s why the three cashiers quit working for Eliason, got protection orders, and filed the lawsuit Eliason is now facing in court.

Eliason has never faced criminal charges for the accusations.

The trial is expected to last until Friday.
