And here I thought Manwin was the most disliked porn company in the adult entertainment world.
If you’re in the adult business, you didn’t need Fox Business News reporter Charlie Gasparino telling you that. Gasparino, in a series of profiles, has been linking Manwin to Wall Street and porn piracy, meaning that stockbrokers are now realizing the flashlight is shining on the cockroaches, and might take a dim view of ever getting involved with the adult business in the future.
Come on, we all knew or had suspicions that Manwin sailed under the Jolly Roger and that Fabian Thylmann wore an eye patch and made recalcitrant employees walk the plank.
The fact that this has been a secret for so long only suggests that Manwin bought love among the adult community, spread Pieces of Eight and mum was the word. The same can’t be said for Immoral Productions which seems to be the number 1 target in the Michael Weinstein shooting gallery.
Just by sheer coincidence, Assembly Bill 332 was be heard for the first time by committee at a hearing at the state capitol today. [Word is the hearing’s been postponed.]
Weinstein, with the help of Assemblyman Isadore Hall from Compton, Calif., has been pushing to make Measure B, which would mandate barrier protection for adult productions, a statewide requirement.
So what happens? The day before this was to take place, Weinstein lodges a complaint to the fact that Immoral Productions is one of those companies not using barrier protection and, thus, is violating other provisions of the law.
This isn’t the first time Immoral has come under scrutiny. May of last year, Immoral Productions was cited for filming without a permit at its Chatsworth studio.
At the time, eight officers from the LAPD’s Vice Division visited Immoral when it was preparing to shoot a live cam show as well as an advertising spot with a handful of adult performers. Porno Dan Leal who heads up the company wasn’t at the studio when the officers first arrived, but he later spoke to the police.
Leal said that he didn’t know at the time of the citation that he needed a film permit to shoot a live cam show. But he has since gotten all the required permits and production insurance and also has been shooting with condoms.
“We’re in complete compliance,” Leal said at the time. “Immoral Productions studio is the happiest place outside of Anaheim.”
Not according to Weinstein. In the press release AHF put out Monday, Weinstein contends just the opposite.
According to Weinstein, AHF received an “anonymous letter” with an accompanying videotape filmed by someone on an Immoral Productions set.
Weinstein declined to say whether the source was a performer but if you read between the lines, Immoral has a rat in its midst. Either that or someone has, in US Army parlance, a case of the ass for Leal and his company.
The raid last May had to come from info provided by someone on the inside, and this “anonymous letter” must have come from the same source. I’ve said in the past Weinstein has paid informants in the business and was ridiculed by some idiot performers on Twitter for having said so.
Maybe it’s time to wake up and realize that loyalty in porn goes only as far as the supply of cash that buys it.
