Weren’t we just reading about how the Chinese government was cracking down on Internet porn? Now comes news of a sex festival.
Guangzhou, China- A sex festival has kicked off in south China’s Guangzhou city, promising to be “open and bold” about its subject matter and welcoming teenagers to explore its exhibits, state media said.
The four-day event will educate locals about sex culture and sexually transmitted diseases including AIDS in a bid to “promote sex education and enhance people’s sex health,” Xinhua news agency said.
Unlike a similar event held last year, the organizers have decided not to bar the city’s very young from entering.
“The exhibition is open to people under 18, and you will find no warnings at the entrance,” said Zhang Feng, chairman of the Sex Study Society of Guangdong province.
“Knowledge of and access to products such as condoms can help minimize possible harm to teenagers who might have sex, as they might be exposed to the threats of venereal diseases and AIDS,” Zhang said.
Last year’s event in Guangzhou was a roaring success with the public, even without the teenagers, and 50,000 thronged the halls on the first day.
