Dear Chris,
I am terribly sorry. It’s like a nightmare for Lea (Andrea) and you all, – like torture. Lea is taking all this punishment and is already contemplating she will not be here with us anymore to receive these treatments we are collecting for – this poor sweet soul, God bless her and worrying about other people that they should at least benefit in some way – she badly needs rescuing with superior medical know-how and tactics to loosen the grip of this illness and neutralise it if possible and save her life.
It seems we have got to get Lea quickly to people who are more skilled and perhaps have a more modern setup. At least in your own country Germany, you will be able to communicate with them, as you do not speak Czech. Lea is now partly paralysed and I am afraid that the situation in Prague now seems to be beyond the local skills unfortunately or if there are people who could help in some manner, they are all away! You might let Angela Dickson at SDRT (Samantha Dickson Research Trust) the name of the proposed Munich treatment centre just in case Dr Henry Marsh knows them (the doctor mentioned in the newspaper the other day).
Can the German hospital arrange to collect Lea and take her now ? can she be stabilised and flown to Munich in a hospital plane, assuming it is safe for her to travel by plane (air pressures)? – otherwise she may die there in Prague!
I read that the Czech doctors do not have facilities in the same hospital for even a bed for Lea and she has to travel between two places!
Are Munich still saying they can help Lea? You say on Wednesday one of her Czech doctors is back from holidays – but even if he is on holidays, he should at least be contacted. This is a life and death matter!
I suggest if Munich sounds the best bet for competent extra treatment, try to arrange to get Lea there by hospital plane (I do not know how far Munich is from Prague) or by helicopter however it may be done as soon as possible by safe journey method. Use the funds you can muster and H. will help I am sure as the e-mail indicates from M.H. and they will help by payment to the clinic and we will carry on of course with more fund-raising too, but all the money in the world is no good if Lea is not treated competently very soon, as I cannot see how her body can stand up to all this without competent actions to fight back and she will die there in Prague unless something is done very very soon.
I have copied this letter to Angela at the UK Trust for info. I have removed text about other matters which I will write separately.
I have also copied it to Mark.H., USA, Olda, Cz. Ss. Cz, Darrin, USA & Juh.L., Canada and Alexander in Russia and others who I believe care.
I am so sorry for you Chris – I am very upset about Lea’s situation but we should try to medically fight back. Let’s try something to reverse this situation by getting Lea to Munich which is in your territory which is one good thing and as it seems, everyone is more on the ball there. Please let Mark at H. have all the details of which clinic, etc you think is suitable.
PS. In Friday’s “Evening Standard” (29/10/04) Dr Richard Hodosh, Surgeon was shown carrying out a live on air brain tumour removal via satellite from a hospital in New Jersey.
PPS. About more fund-raising, I will write later. I think now the priority is to stabilise Lea and get her to Munich or wherever is thought the best chance.
