Crazy Cabbie No-Shows Tax Court Date

New York- Deejay “Crazy Cabbie” of “Howard Stern Show” fame lived up to his name yesterday when he skipped a court date in his federal tax case – prompting a judge to issue a warrant for his arrest.

A lawyer for Cabbie, whose real name is Lee Anthony Mroszak, said he has been unable to reach the radio personality, who he believes has checked into a rehab center after spending five days at the psychiatric ward in Staten Island University Hospital.

In seeking to revoke bail, Assistant U.S. Attorney Jeffrey Goldberg told the court Mroszak, 35, had stopped returning phone messages to the feds over the past month, although he left a bizarre personal voicemail message for an IRS agent on his case Dec. 26.

In a series of disjointed on-air chats with Howard Stern, Mroszak complained people were trying to kill him and boasted he had stopped taking meds for bipolar disorder.

Mroszak’s lawyer, Allan Passin, yesterday told reporters his client’s mental breakdown was triggered by a “shock to his system” over a personal problem with his girlfriend.

Judge John Gleeson said he would give Mroszak until 5 p.m. tomorrow to contact probation officials before he puts the arrest in motion.
