WWW- Apparently Rick Salomon wants to upgrade to high-tech video equipment.

Lowdown hears that the 37-year-old ex-hubby of Shannen Doherty – who famously co-starred in his very own low-grade but hugely profitable sex tape – tried and failed to snag a brand-new $500 digital camera at the Sundance Film Festival the other day.

While B-, C- and even D-list celebs are descending like locusts on Park City, Utah, and scooping up corporate freebies left and right, Salomon seems to be having a tough time.

According to a Lowdown spy, “When Shannen and Rick came into the Shutterfly/Panasonic hospitality suite, he beelined straight to the camera section.

“He didn’t care about the Tommy Hilfiger jackets or anything in the Stuff magazine store. He just kept looking at this one digital camera that also has video, playing with the box and dropping hints.”

The spy continued: “It’s obvious if they’re going to give you one for free, the corporate people escort you over and give you a whole spiel. But they were like, ‘Who is this guy?’ It became obvious that he wasn’t going to get one, because he’s not talent. It was a very uncomfortable situation.”

At long last, recounted the spy, the 33-year-old Doherty was forced to come to Salomon’s rescue: “After she got all her other free stuff, the staffers were like, “Shannen, Shannen, let’s give you a camera.’ She said to Rick, ‘Don’t worry, I’ll share mine with you.'”

Yesterday Doherty’s rep confirmed to Lowdown, “I can’t speak for Rick, but yes, Shannen did get a digital camera.”
