(LOS ANGELES, CA) — As Program Director of KSEXradio.com, and show host of The Wanker Show heard nightly on the internet broadcast, I’m always trying to find new and interesting guests to either promote themselves or offer other angles to things we support in the adult business.
One day many weeks back, I stumbled upon a website Victims of Porn. The home page of this site lists the many victims of porn, including children, women and certain men. While I agree that there are many victims of porn, I do not think this site would share my same opinions and probably overplayed things, labeling them as harmful. So, I thought I’d get someone from their company on my show to discuss it.
Below you’ll find my solicit e-mail to the website, followed by their response and then a few back and forths we had. Keep in mind, this is a company that WANTS to save us all from the evils of porn.
It’s a little lengthy, but worth it!

FROM WANKUS to VICTIMS OF PORN
Hi,
My name is Wankus and I am the Program Director of KSEXradio in Los Angeles, a 24 hour sex talk radio station.
I would like to give you an opportunity to appear on one of our shows. If you are in the Southern California area, you are welcome to come in to the studio, or you may be interviewed by telephone.
I reviewed your site, and while it makes many good points in some areas, I feel there are also a few narrow minded and unjustified claims. I would love to address them on-air.
Do not get the impression that I am soliciting you to publicly bash you, because that is not my intent. I merely think if you want to preach against porn, no one in the adult business or those who have experienced porn, will be reading your site. You need to send your message into the lions den and we certainly have that audience you’re trying to save.
So, let me know your thoughts. If you have any questions, I will be happy to answer them for you.
Thank you,
Wankus

RETURN FROM WANKUS, KSEXradio.com
Hi,
Thanks for the response.
It’s amazing how groups like yours frequently turn down the opportunity to preach to those you claim need it. Instead, spreading your message to ‘like’ thinkers, churches and conservatives will hinder your mission and not reach the goals and accomplishments you are hoping to achieve. It’s like warning a group of AIDS patients to practice safe sex.
The invite is always open. Get in touch with me should you change your mind.
Thank you,
Wankus

RESPONSE FROM VICTIMS OF PORNOGRAPHY
Dear Wankus,
I appreciate your comments and understand your frustration.
We have been burnt too many times, not to say that you would do this, but we choose to be cautious and know the interviewer or program before we take any interview like this. We will keep you in mind. Best of wishes on your show.

RESPONSE FROM WANKUS, KSEXradio.com
Thank you for the clarification.
If it makes you feel any better, I have done mainstream radio for 12 years, with morning shows in Los Angeles, Santa Barbara and New Orleans. I did a nationally syndicated night show throughout the country and my work in news and entertainment is featured in the Museum of Television and Radio.
While my current show features mostly adult stars, I have done many serious interviews with guests like Joan Irvine of Adult Sites Against Child Pornography (ASACP), The Mayor of Hollywood, Florida, who came on to talk about the complaints in her city of having a porn convention there, Johnny and Jerry Buss of the Los Angeles Lakers and many more.
While I can’t promise that I’ll agree with all your points, I won’t allow you to be ridiculed and won’t make the interview bias. I’ll present you in any forum you wish to be presented in. There’s no doubt your views will be heard in enemy territory, but like in Iraq, there may be some who surrender to the other side and I would think that any success for your cause would be a great accomplishment.
Again, the door is open. I hope to schedule you soon.
Sincerely,
Wankus

AND THEN…THE PREZ STEPS IN
RESPONSE FROM COMPANY PRESIDENT
From: Phil Burress
Wankus, your response was passed to me and I must respond. We are a serious organization addressing the victims of sexual crimes and sexual exploitation. You should not be amazed that we turn down shows that are no more than shows. If someone must be blamed, blame those before you whom we have granted interviews and as guest to their shows be been treated unprofessionally. We are sorry, but we just don’t have the time play games. People are dying and being hurt everyday because sex is being treated as though it is a spectator sport. I have been told that KSEX fits that mold. Everyday we do interviews with responsible TV, radio stations and printed media. For your information, we are reaching those who need to hear our message. Thanks for the opportunity but we must decline.
Phil Burress, President.

FINAL RESPONSE FROM WANKUS, KSEXradio.com
Hi Phil.
I must say, the other person responding to my invitation was very professional and gave reasonable explanation as to the situation. Your email comes across defensive.
Regardless, my inquiry is not a demand to be on the show. It’s a request. You do with it, what you want.
But, your e-mail is hypocritical. Yes we feature sex talk as entertainment and the majority of our hosts, guests and listeners support the freedoms of sexual expression. But by saying that KSEXradio is irresponsible may only be a matter of opinion. Yours.
It is my duty as program director to provide an entertaining forum with a sex theme for the audience, but it is also a respectable and ever-going mission of ours to preach safety, offer all views and opinions, and to remind our audience that we are only playing a fictitious role in society as a means to entertain. We frequently host shows that feature guests of all types including some I previous mentioned, as well as, AIM Healthcare (a clinic that battles diseases among those who work in the industry and promotes safer sex), companies and experts that warn about dangers of rough sex, bondage gone too far, mistreating talent in the industry and more. Implying that we are not a responsible broadcast medium is an uneducated and unresearched response and a rude ‘dig’ to a good company.
You say you are reaching those who need to hear your message, but you will turn down the promise of a fair interview to an audience of thousands of porn fans, who support an occupation and a field that your firm claims increases in violence and improper, inhumane treatment of woman, and subscribers that fit the description of many examples listed on your own home page.
Your actions in your fight can be compared to a lifeguard who watches people in the pool drown, stating that you have responsibilities to those on the beach.
Again, the door is open for an interview anytime. You know how to find me.
Wankus

At this point, that’s the last I’ve heard.
Companies like this feel the need to blame porn for life problems, but when it comes to correcting anything or having a perfect forum for their cause, they decline so they can keep touting how they need to stop it, without having to face good points from ‘the other side.’
How do you plan on fixing anything, until you face it?
The bottom line is, Phil Burress doesn’t know ANYTHING about the adult world. He blames porn and porn fans for his own insecurities and tries to look like a neighborhood hero for fighting against it. Burress and his company are hypocritical, uninformed and although there IS a need to help people who are addicted to porn, some people who work in porn (for the wrong reasons) and people who are hurt in porn…blaming porn will never fly with me. Like all the great organizations in the adult business, we will continue to find ways to help ourselves since as a group, we’re widely misunderstood.
I’d love to look through Phil’s video collection. The tape labeled “Dry Cleaning Seminar” is probably an Alana Evans double-anal, interracial scene!
