Porn Valley- The success of adult in the next few years is going to be its total interactivity- see, touch, feel, smell. Maybe taste.

And from the direction that Steve Volpni’s going with his company, he thinks he’s closer to getting locked more into the five senses than anyone. Like porn documentaries, I’ve seen 3D stylings come and go. Nothing so far has ever stuck. But Volponi, former sales manager of Digital Playground, thinks he’s got the handle on it. Volponi now heads up his own company, Reel Productions/Reel Interactive which is about to release its first movie in April.

It’s titled Reach Out, Touch Me, Lauren Phoenix. The movie is both interactive and 3D. A second volume is already in the works featuring Melissa Lauren. You get the impression from talking to Volponi that no expense was spared in producing the movies which also feature lenticular boxcovers. “Along with this movie I’m producing a lenticular counter stand where you can display the movie on the counter of your sex shop or store,” says Volponi. “And there’s no way that anybody’s going to walk by and not swear that the picture just moved.” Volponi’s giving away those point of purchase display stands.

With the Melissa Lauren movie, Volponi says the authoring button offers an option to see Lauren hurling her lunch. “I did which JM would call the gag factor in 3D,” he laughs. “She actually projects her breakfast in 3D. It’s an interactive love story.” Volponi tells me that his partner Rob has had some reservations about the project so Volponi did the dog and pony show with a Panasonic HD 53-inch flat screen projection TV.

Volponi is told it’s never going to work on a regular TV. “I put the DVD in my DVD player,” he states. “Sure enough it’s larger than life. I say to Rob I thought you said this wasn’t going to work. He was, like, I didn’t know it was going to work to the extent of this. I said nobody in their right mind is going to complain about this. It’s out of control.”

Volponi can’t believe how good this first volume turned out. “And this is the pessimist [his partner] of the group,” he says. “He’s the technology guy, a perfectionist wacko. This is on the edge of technology.” Volponi notes that Metro attempted something called Virtual Valery.

“It failed because here was a $99 attachment that you needed to plug into the TV,” says Volponi. “This isn’t like that. You can put it into your computer. You can put it into your DVD player and it’s going to work. It’s 3D. It’s interactive.” I suggest to Volponi that he can advertise his product as stress free 3D.

“And if you don’t want 3D there’s a non 3D version interactive,” he points out. “You got Lauen Phoenix the Female Performer of the Year on Volume 1. How beautiful is that? We all know she’s the anal queen of the century.”

But I tell Volponi the one I’m looking forward to is Melissa Lauren upchucking her breakfast. “When I was on the set directing that scene,” Volponi states, “it came off better than I would have imagined. I said to Melissa, we want to do something like the Gag Factor and she was all into it. She got right into the position. The funny thing was my wife was on the couch behind me. I’m telling Sasha the male performer what I need him to do. Here I am doing the positioning in front of my wife over top of this naked girl and I showed him how to do it. Sure enough, the scene came off amazing. Melissa projected her whole friggin’ breakfast, and we got about five or six of these angles. You’ll see that the depth of the shot is amazing almost to where you can reach in the screen, get behind the girl and grab her. It’s really wacky.”

I ask Volponi if it’s true that the third volume in the series is being titled Gia Paloma Interactive OD. “You’re going to have OD in 3D,” I tell him. “How better does it get than with the paramedics and the fibrulators.” Volponi who was in Vegas on the spot when Paloma’s infamous incident occurred said Rob Spallone was standing right next to him when it happened. “He was sitting in the only chair in the area,” laughs Volponi.

“They were saying, Rob, Rob, she needs to sit down. He goes, what? He’s sitting in the chair and wouldn’t let her sit in it. It was fucking hilarious. I was right there when she fell into a buddy of mine at the bar. He’s going what the fuck. And then when they strapped her down and wheeled her out, Spallone yells out in front of everybody, they should strap them all down and wheel ’em out of here. The guy is a maniac without a doubt.”
