I hear things. I hear that the Feds are looking for John Gallo, former owner of Klimaxxx Pictures. Gallo was serving the remainder of a sentence for money laundering at a half-way house. This week Gallo skipped and if found will be returned to prison, according to authorities
In October, 2000, a four-year multi-agency investigation had been initiated by the Customs Service in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. It resulted in the indictment of 43 individuals for crimes ranging from importing cocaine and marijuana to racketeering and extortion. The investigation targeted union stevedores of Teamsters Local 390 and the International Longshoreman’s Association (ILA), as well as other port personnel.
The indictment charged Gallo with laundering over $1 million in narcotics proceeds that he received from a stevedore involved in the smuggling of narcotics. Gallo used the proceeds he received from the conspiracy to form companies that produced and marketed pornographic materials, including but not limited to Klimaxxx Productions, Inc., the Bitas Group, Inc., and Triple J. Enterprises, Inc. Gallo then laundered the proceeds through various foreign bank accounts to disguise the true source of the funds, eventually returning a portion of the illegal funds to the stevedore Willie Jackson who had been operating under directions of Clarence Lark, the former president of Teamsters Local 390. Lark was also indicted in the case.
