Finding Bliss, from writer-director Julie Davis, was released in June of last year and, maybe, played in the theaters for one week, if that.

In the film, Davis is pretty much telling her own personal story through the eyes of actress LeeLee Sobieski, an aspiring filmmaker who falls into an editing job at a porn company called Grind Productions. Moonlighting helps LeeLee’s character subsidize her life’s ambition. Much like Davis did in real life, except Davis worked for Playboy.

Stormy Daniels is also in the film [which was shot in Spokane in 2008] and pretty much playing Stormy Daniels.

During a red carpet event last summer, Daniels explained, “I basically play myself. I play an adult film star named Stormy, so it wasn’t much of a stretch for me. I was pleasantly surprised at how the industry was portrayed in the film, and appreciate Julie’s spin on it. I really think she got it right.”

Regarding her high profile co-stars, Ms. Daniels is quick to point out that “everyone was really fun and outgoing, especially Leelee Sobieski and Jamie Kennedy. They were both very funny and curious about my industry. Jamie was surprisingly open with the nudity and honestly, if mainstream acting doesn’t work out for him, I’d happily cast him in one of my movies…if you know what I mean.”

Daniels, who got some type of XRCO award out of this, makes an appearance in Finding Bliss. The project carried a $1.5M budget. Daniels’ presence isn’t much of a surprise when you consider that Wicked Pictures contributed $10,000 as well as posters, footage and contract actresses for Davis to use in her movie. Davis, the director, estimates it would have cost her about $200,000, otherwise.

Throughout production, which took place over 20 days, Davis was in touch with Wicked, specifying the type of material she needed.

“I’d send her [Wicked’s publicist Hethalein Mares] screen-grabs … of a character with black hair and a white face and red lips and say, ‘Do you have any movies, of the 500,000 you’ve done, where a girl looks like this?’ Davis explains.

“And she’d send me a box of films with the exact places where I would find those scenes… All that stuff that Wicked gave us gave it so much more authenticity.”

Ever since Manwin took over its Internet operations, Wicked Pictures may as well have Lee Harvey Oswald as publicist for all the good it’s doing them. Mike South,www.mikesouth.com has been on Wicked’s tail all week for advertising on Pirate Bay and Daniels flashed a middle finger to the adult business by coming on board as spokesperson for .XXX domains.

Daniels and Nina Mercedez have been announced as the first adult entertainment stars to secure .XXX domains, and both have signed contracts to be the company’s adult industry spokesmodels.

Which makes you wonder where this whole .XXX Domains issue is, at present.

[Think of .XXX Domains in terms as an overpriced product you’re never going to use but are buying it only because someone else might.]

Diane Duke and The Free Speech Coalition are still manning the fort against it like Davy Crockett at the Alamo. Meanwhile XBiz and AVN have already sold out and are promoting the idea like it was Ron Popeil’s Chop-O-Matic.

The Exxxotica Expos accept ad dollars from .XXX Domains, and now we’re going to have Daniels and Mercedez playing lap dogs by hiking their skirts, showing leg and shilling for Stuart Lawley’s floating crap game.

After you’re through petting their heads and taking them out to pee, Daniels and Mercedez’s primary mission is to push the new .XXX Domain Names for Adult Performers Program by convincing their brethren this is a good deal.

Daniels has said she looks forward to working with .XXX. [Translation: money.]

“This is a great opportunity for me, and I am excited to be a part of all the big things .XXX has planned in the future,” Daniels said in a recent press release.

You’ll remember, too, how persuasive Daniels can be as a saleswoman. When making a point with former partner Mike Moz, Daniels, according to the Tampa Bay police, became upset with the way the laundry was done and decided to use Moz’s head as a speed bag.

Daniels also tossed a potted plant in the kitchen sink and threw the couple’s wedding album on the floor.

Potential .XXX Domain clients may not be as obstinate, but Daniels certainly didn’t acquire her nickname “The Dragon Lady” by behaving like Little Bo Peep.

Here’s what’s also funny. Mercedez said she did “research” before hopping aboard the Stuart Lawley Express.

If Louis Pasteur did research like the adult industry, we’d still be dropping dead from a glass of milk. But Nina’s research [translation: money] told her that “It’s going to be good for the adult entertainment industry and good for the fans, so naturally I wanted to be involved.”

How it’s also going to be good for the fans is anyone’s guess, but I’m sure under the skillful tutelage of .XXX Domains’ Vaughn Liley, Stormy and Nina will have all the answers by the time Exxxotica New Jersey starts today.
