DARLINGTON COUNTY, SC from www.wmbfnews.com – Foxy Adult Video store in Darlington County is back on the radar following an undercover drug operation last week that landed 21 people behind bars.
Foxy Video has had multiple run-ins with the law in the past. Owner of Foxy Video, Victor Balin, told WMBF News he was not selling bath salts. Balin said the product he was selling was glass cleaner. Balin showed WMBF News a lab report he claimed was from a lab that tested the product he was selling. According to the document Balin showed WMBF News, the product did not contain cathinones, the technical term for bath salts.
Darlington County Sheriff Wayne Byrd said SLED is investigating the product, and until that information is released, it is unknown whether or not the lab results Balin showed WMBF News was accurate.
Balin’s store sits on Main Street in Darlington County. Sheriff Byrd said it’s the location that hurts the county’s reputation.
“Everybody in the county complains about it. I think probably one of the biggest things for us is with the economic development that the county’s been trying to do, it sits right on the main entrance to the county from Florence,” Byrd said.
Byrd said he would like to see the adult video store shut down.
“You’d have to go through a long civil process through the courts to have it declared a public nuisance. We’ve been looking at that. It’s a lengthy process, it’s not something we can do in a couple of months, even a year. It takes quite a bit of complaints and arrests,” Sheriff Byrd said.
The investigation into Foxy Video will continue, but for now the store remains open and running.
