Porn Valley – Alana Evans, www.alanaevans.com writes on www.tonybatman.com – Public schools are filled with children from all types of parents. Some parents are Police Officers, some are waiters, some are doctors, and some are even porn stars like me. These parents represent everyday people living everyday lives. We hope that our children understand the real world and are prepared for its challenges when they become adults.
With that being said, it means that the people who work in our children’s schools are everyday people as well. We hope that the background checks rule out sex offenders, child abusers, or any one else who would do them harm. But as a porn star, it freaks me out that I would automatically be considered a threat because of my legal profession, past or present.
Here is my background… I have been in and out of porn for the last 13 years of my life. I have three great children, one I gave birth to, and the other two are my awesome step kids that I love like my own. Two of those kids live full time with us and my step daughter goes back and forth from her moms.
I am an avid volunteer. Last year alone I ran two very large and important committees at my step son’s school. I spent more time at his school than a few of their actual employees. I was loved by the children, the teachers, the parents, the office staff, and even the principal. Many of the parents and staff know about my background but also understand what kind of person I am. I’m the mom at every fundraiser helping sell pizza to pay for a field trip. I’m the mom working hours and hours making fliers. I was the most dedicated parent at the school, hands down.
But I can easily admit that there were some moms that I was afraid of. Afraid that if they knew about my career, they would make a huge stink. I knew regardless, I would always have a team of parents on my side. I never had any kind of issue or problem. I was never a distraction. I passed a background check, even for the Girl Scouts. They was never a ” have you ever done porn ” question on the paperwork. I never dressed inappropriately or acted inappropriately. In fact, I’m the paranoid parent who dresses conservatively as to not draw attention.
I think it is unrealistic for parents to think that the people around their children have perfect pasts and perfect lives. In fact, its the perfect people who are often the ones you have to watch out for. There have been several cases of men or women having inappropriate contact with students, and I haven’t found one with a porn past.
I believe that if a school district has issue with some one having a past in the adult business, then maybe that should be a part of the background check. Oh, wait. Maybe it isn’t because it’s a legal profession! Porn usually involves consenting adults having sex… Something most adults engage in at home.
The reality is this… When people leave the business to begin a new life, they often have remorse about their involvement. This means that maybe they reach out to help children so that those kids won’t follow their own path. Maybe they hope that by being an influence in a Childs life, that they can make a difference. As many of us know, great teachers are hard to find. I believe everyone deserves a chance to better themselves.
As for me, I love that I work in the adult industry. I am not ashamed. If and when I am ever questioned, I will stand proud and say yes, I’ve done porn! I’m also a great mom, a great person, and that’s all that should matter. I have a perfect background and record. I have never been arrested in my life. I would easily pass their background check and probably get hired if I went through the proper schooling. Wow, We live in an interesting world.
