Porn Valley- Xotic Studios is no Shenanigans. Because if it were, Bikini Brawl wouldn’t have been setting up Sunday afternoon for a show to benefit Katrina victims. The Showtime cameras were there, but I didn’t stick around for the show itself because, hey, it’s football season and I had to get back to Jerry’s Deli to find out how the Eagles’ game was going to wrap up.
But while I was over Xotic Studios, I got a couple of surprises including the fact of running into a couple of old cronies from XPW including announcers Kris Kloss, Guido and referee Patrick Hernandez. Kloss was in the off Broadway production of Bill Osco’s Alice in Wonderland which ran for nine months, at 8 shows a week.
I asked Raven, who heads up Bikini Brawl and is a wrestling fan, if he had followed XPW’s exploits. A slenderish guy, Raven’s not to confused with the wrestler who’s probably at least a hundred pounds heavier.
Bikini Brawl, www.bikinibrawl.net, started up in 2003, according to Raven.
“It was in a backyard in Anaheim,” he states. “Our main event was Rebecca Love against Jayna Oso. They’re both big names now. We decided let’s do another one in 2004. We shot at a mansion in Encino. We had Lisa Sparxx, Amber Peach and Charlie take part. A few other stars took part including Kim Chambers. We realized this is was becoming the bikini version of Wrestlemania, so we were going to do it once a year. This year we shot the third one at VIP Showgirls. We set an attendance record for the club and have over 10 porn stars that day. We had Victoria Givens, Rebecca Love and KSEX has been working with us the past two years. It’s becoming bigger and bigger and bigger. We’re working on distribution deals right now and we appreciate that the porn industry has welcomed us into their world.
“We’re kind of mainstream,” Raven continues. “We’re sold at Tower and Best Buy- stores like that. So this is the chance for porn stars to get their names and likenesses in stores like that.” Raven’s been a wrestling fan since 1986.
“A lot of my friends are current wrestlers for the WWE,” he says. “So just between watching that and taking their concepts, our deal is kind of like Girls Gone Wild meets wrestling entertainment. It’s T&A and a lot of fun. Unfortunately [and Raven’s kidding] we hired the leftovers from XPW and brought them over to Bikini Brawl.” Raven’s decision to bring porn chicks into the fold stems from the fact that he worked on the show Blind Date for four years.
“Pretty much any show that involved porn stars, I shot their date. I became friends with them over the time. Once we got started I said we’ve got to get some big names- so we brought them in and they liked it. Next year after that more wanted to do it. Besides, all the good press we’ve received has done so much for us. I thank Wankus and the whole KSEX family over there. That’s what brought us to integrate with the porn industry.”
In some indie wrestling league drama, Raven was kicked out of a PWGI wrestling show the night previous. “I don’t want to knock them too hard,” said Raven. “They have great wrestling but some of the people who work on their staff are complete ass clowns. Take it for that.”
I also grabbed a quick chat with referee Patrick Hernandez. In his 9 to 5 job Hernandez is a liquor salesman.”That’s the whole secret,” he laughs. “I hit ’em with a bottle of Crown Royal upside the head.” Hernandez was going to referee Bikini Brawl. There was a show a couple of months ago at Spearmint Rhino, Hernandez recalls. “It was Nicole Oring versus Alana Evans and it was phenomenal. The entrance for Alana was phenomenal. The crowd there was as though you were watching this on WWE. She had this dramatic ring experience and then pretty soon the rule book went out the window and both girls turned on the referee. The ref was knocked out and a second referee came in. The crowd was just hot and jumping- before you know it, it was good ten minute match but there was no winner. But it’s really taking off. The guys and the people that have been showing up are really digging it. It’s fun.”
Hernandez tell me that a lot of the old XPW alma mater are now wrestling for an organization called FCW- full contact wrestling. They were doing shows at the Olympic until the Olympic had been turned into a church by the new Korean owners. Shows are now being produced at The Forum. “You get to see a lot of the old guys there like Pogo, Vic Grimes, Angel, Kaos and Supreme,” says Hernandez. “It’s really becoming successful.” For Bikini Brawl, Hernandez said he’d be calling the matches right down the middle.
I talk to Annie Cruz who’s also doing her first Bikini Brawl. “I got fucked in the ass prior to coming here,” laughs Cruz. “That’s my motivation.” Cruz says she’ll get more butt sex later if she puts on a good show. Cruz, who’s doing her first show, had no idea who her opponent was going to be.
“When this was originally planned about three weeks ago, I was supposed to fight Alana Evans in the main event,” Cruz explains. “But Alana can’t make it today- she has food poisoning. So now I have no idea. It’s going to be a surprise to me.”
Cruz will do a full report of the event on her KSEX show Monday night and tells me she’s boxed before [a 2-0 record]. “So I shouldn’t be in for too big a surprise,” she notes. “I haven’t been active in boxing for awhile because of porn. When you get into boxing it consumes so much of your life. So as soon as I started getting into boxing, I was working five days a week in the gym- sometimes I was doing six hour days. It got to the point where I finally switched agents in porn, things got a little bit hectic and I had to slow down on the boxing a little bit. Now I’m on hold for any more fights.”
Asked if the boxing-thing pays off, Cruz said it does. Cruz was fighting at 127 pounds but when she stopped working out she dropped to 115 pounds. “I’m small, I’m tiny, I’m a girl but I’m very feisty,” Cruz laughs. “You fuck with me, I’ll kick your ass.”
