GURNEE, ILL.- The manager of a Pacific Sunwear Stores outlet hid a video camera in the women’s restroom to covertly photograph his young employees and customers perform “personal toilet functions,” and fired three teen-age workers when they complained of it, the young women claim in Lake County Court.
They say the defendant manager, Aldwin Kalaw, has been criminally charged for unauthorized videotaping – no thanks to the company, which they say did not report Kalaw’s actions to police and instructed the plaintiffs not to tell other employees about it. The three women sue the store – whose products are aimed at adolescent buyers – on claims of invasion of privacy, failure to supervise and retaliatory firing.
