from www.telegraph.co.uk – Arnold Schwarzenegger has denied working as a “fluffer” on the sets of pornographic films after making a joke that it had been his worst ever job.

The Austrian-born actor and politician drew laughter from crowds during an interview in which he suggested he had once done the degrading task for a living.

However, a spokesman for the governor of California was forced to deny the claims, insisting that the 62-year-old had been joking.

He said that Schwarzenegger had merely been speaking hypothetically, naming the task – which involves arousing male porn stars before a performance – as the worst job imaginable.

The governor’s remarks came during an interview with James Lipton, the host of the television series Inside the Actor’s Studio, at Chelsea Piers in New York.

The New York Post reported that when asked what his favourite job was, the Terminator star said: “English teacher.”

Lipton then asked: “Least favourite job?” to which Schwarzenegger replied: “Fluffer.”

The comment reportedly reduced the star-studded audience to hysterical laughter.

A witness told the newspaper: “I thought Candace Bushnell, Jay McInerney, Anne Hearst and Kerry Kennedy would all fall off their chairs they were laughing so hard.”

The comical exchange continued as Lipton asked, “What turns you on?” to which the governor replied “America”, and “What turns you off?”: “Deficit.”

Speaking about his obsession with body building, Schwarzenegger added: “My mother thought there was something wrong with me when she came into my room and saw pictures on my walls of half-naked men covered in oil. My mother said, ‘Shouldn’t there be pictures of girls on your walls?’ My parents thought I was a little wacky.”

Aaron McLear, a spokesman for Schwarzenegger, later told the Los Angeles Times that the governor had never been a fluffer but was “just imagining his least-favourite hypothetical job”.
