Porn Valley- Sounds like Robert Interlandi [pictured] has been spending lots of time at trade shows. Last month Interlandi and Arrow Productions announced a licensing deal with Canadian company, Bang-On where Bang-on will be producing T-shirts bearing artwork from various films in the Arrow catalogue such as Deep Throat, Candy Stripers and Debbie Does Dallas. https://www.adultfyi.com/read.aspx?ID=18380.
And just last week Interlandi attended a trade show in Vegas at the Hilton Convention Center that brought the garment and apparel industry out for its annual conclave.
“It’s the largest clothing convention in the US,” says Interlandi. “And it took us two days to walk it if you want to get an idea of how big it is. Bang-On was debuting our t-shirts.”
“It went great,” continues Interlandi more than enthusiastically. “Bang-On’s booth goes crazy because they’re pressing Deep Throat t-shirts right there on the spot and passing them out to the fans. And people were putting them on. The Bang-On booth was going way crazy. This convention was way bigger than the VSDA used to be.”
“The way Bang-On works,” Interlandi continues, “is you pick out a T-shirt and they heat press-on the logo. I put on one of the Deep Throat t-shirts and I walked over to the licensing side of the convention. I was walking around and, man, did I pick up a lot of interest in licensing. Like now I have people that want to do stickers and magnets as well as hats. And I have three people that want to do our posters.” Interlandi chuckles over the fact that he even might have prompted an all-out bidding war for Arrow products.
“I have this one company that does posters for Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd,” he says. “They want to pick up our license and put movie posters in record stores. They also want to break into the lingerie market, too. And there’s all kinds of t-shirts companies that want to license us now that we have the t-shirts out. Before, no one was talking to me and I was scum. But now that I’ve got a couple of deals under my belt…”
This weekend Interlandi travels to the Action Sports Retailer Show in San Diego which appeals to the skateboarding, wake boarding, snowboarding and surfing crowds.
“I’m looking to license our stuff,” says Interlandi. “I could easily see a Debbie Does Dallas wake board at a big ol’ party and someone saying, oh my God, that’s so cool. And I could easily see the kids buying a Deep Throat skateboard and making their parents mad.” Because he prizes his Moosehead snowboard, Interlandi can see something with Linda Lovelace gracing the slopes.
“I think it’s totally sick,” he laughs.
