from www.avclub.com – After over 50 years, Playboy Enterprises is set to leave to Chicago for Los Angeles in a bid to bring a comparatively wholesome business to the City of Angels.
While Chicagoans will no longer have the corporate headquarters of Playboy, the old-fashioned address book that started that business is staying behind. Hugh Hefner’s little black book will be displayed as part of the Chicago History Museum’s Unexpected Chicago exhibit.
The credit card-sized book contains Hef’s own opinions and observations on women, for those looking for insight into starting a multi-million dollar company, living with multiple models, and getting your own Mad Men knockoff. More importantly, displaying an outdated address book in a museum will remind us how people actually remembered phone numbers and addresses before the Internet.
The book will begin its residency at the museum on May 4 and remain on display through the end of June, when it will likely never be displayed again, content to live out the remainder of its days with two hot young iPhones.
