Las Vegas- Federal prosecutors on Tuesday requested that the sentencing for former Clark County Commissioner Erin Kenny be postponed until March so she can help seal their case against a Las Vegas developer.

Kenny, who served as a government witness against her former colleagues Mary Kincaid-Chauncey and Dario Herrera, was scheduled to be sentenced Friday.

But a stipulation signed by Assistant U.S. Attorney Daniel Schiess and Kenny’s attorney, Frank Cremen, says Kenny is needed to provide information and testify against developer Don Davidson. Davidson’s trial is expected to begin in January.

“Additional time is necessary for the defendant to continue to cooperate, and then for the government, following the defendant’s cooperation, to be able to fully apprise the court as to the extent of the defendant’s cooperation,” Schiess wrote.

Whether Kenny receives a reduced prison sentence depends on whether the court believes she provided substantial assistance to the government.

Kenny was indicted in 2003 for accepting cash bribes from former strip club owner Michael Galardi and his right-hand man Lance Malone.

She signed a plea deal agreeing to provide information and testify against her co-defendants: Kincaid-Chauncey, Herrera and Malone. Kincaid-Chauncey and Herrera were convicted of political corruption charges in May. Malone changed his plea to guilty on Monday.

The plea agreement says Kenny will spend no more than 46 months in prison.

During the government’s questioning of Kenny, she revealed that Davidson gave her $200,000 for pushing through contentious land-use changes that allowed for the construction of a CVS Pharmacy in a residential neighborhood.
