Porn Valley- In a recent visit to KSEX, attorney David Beichtman of the firm Beichtman & Zekian commented about the recent FBI visits to porn companies on the 2257’s.
Beichtman, who’s also the KSEX attorney, is apparently representing Michael Fletcher, as well, who’s suing Shy Love. Wankus asked Beichtman if he’d like to comment on that case and Beichtman didn’t think it would be a good idea.
“When we’re doing things that are making people money and putting deals together and moving forward, I like that much more than these unfortunate incidents which unfortunately we have to deal with,” Beichtman replied. Otherwise, Wankus said he’s seen Beitchman in action.
“He comes across as this suave, stud, trendy kind of guy- all the girls want to bang him; but all of a sudden in the courtroom? Boom-boom-boom.” It was noted that Beichtman also reps Tera Patrick and Wankus said that’s how they met.
“The whole Tera-thing happened and I saw the great job he did,” Wankus continued. “There’s a lot of attorneys that work, specifically, in the adult world but I don’t like their style. They’re either I’ve been doing this forever- shut up- I know what I’m talking about. Or they just don’t know what the fuck they’re doing. When I saw him [Beichtman] cut through Digital Playground like that which is very hard to do, it was very impressive.”
“We take a mainstream approach because we represent a lot of mainstream people as well,” Beichtman commented. “We try to bring that same approach into this world as well because it’s the same business- it’s talent; it’s serious; it’s acting; that’s what we do.”
Wankus brought up the 2257 raids.
“They’re stopping by these production companies and the Feds are unannounced coming in saying let’s see your records. If it’s something off they give major fines or shut down, whatever.”
Beichtman said he hasn’t been made aware of the severest penalties such as imprisonment.
“But there’s still some ongoing litigation about who can be raided and under what circumstances,” Beichtman continued, “the whole definition of the secondary producers, so on and so forth.”
“Do you think it’s because they can’t really nail us on any Freedom of Speech issues so they’re just trying to get us on clerical or anything they can do?” Wankus asked.
“There has been some serious comment with respect to the entire regulation of 2257- that, hey, this thing’s not designed to prevent child pornography and to protect children,” Beichtman commented. “It’s really designed to shut down what the Constitution says we can do. So I think that’s definitely an issue. Whether or not it’s the sole driving force, I don’t know. But there’s definitely a lot of discussion about it and a lot of talk about this law. As it grows and becomes more broad and encompasses more and more, it’s becoming more of a problem.”
“Even people who run little website companies, they have maybe websites under their umbrella, they’re, like, fuck this, I don’t want to deal with it,” Wankus commented. “Because this girl that I’m representing doesn’t get her paper work, I’m fucked.”
“That’s the problem,” said Beichtman. “Because they’re using that law to shut everybody down; and the small people don’t have the money or the resources or the team to support it. They’re the ones that are going to go the quickest.”
