Gee, did all those nude photos get taken unwittingly?
Canada- from www.winnipegfreepress.com – The head of the association representing the province’s lawyers has sent a letter to the president of the CBC and its Ombudsman to complain about the public broadcaster’s “prurient” handling of stories about Queen’s Bench Associate Chief Justice Lori Douglas.
“This reporting was tabloid journalism at its worst, and an unwarranted attack on a respected member of the judiciary who enjoys an outstanding reputation,” Ken Mandzuik, president of the Manitoba Bar Association, said in the letter.
“This is made worse when she appears to be an unwitting victim of what went on. That fact alone ought to have, at minimum, merited more discretion than the CBC showed, and certainly should have prevented Justice Douglas’s name and picture from being splashed across the country.”
The letter said better was expected of the CBC.
“I know many of my colleagues in the Bar share my personal disappointment with CBC over not only the decision to run with the story, but the way in which it was reported. It beggars belief that this reporting was seen as worthy of the CBC.”
