Porn Valley- Director John Bowen, aka John T. Bone is commuting between Porn Valley and Brazil these days. Bowen comes back to town the end of August but during his last stay here, he and I chatted on a number of different porn subjects. In a particularly feisty mood, Bowen lent these comments about the recent HIV crisis:
“Nobody in this business gives a fuck,” states Bowen. “They don’t give a fuck about each other; they don’t give a fuck about their health. They don’t give a fuck about AIDS. Bowen also says the recognized “bible” of the industry has done little if nothing to get to the bottom of the industry HIV story
“Let’s look at AVN,” he continues. “The AVN- the last time I had a run in with the idiot who fuckin’ runs it, he told me how he was going to stand behind his journalists because they have integrity and they were proper journalists. I think they’re a bunch of third-rate writers whose only qualifications are that they masturbate. Let’s say they’re journalists. If they’re journalists, do they actually write stories or do they just collect advertising? Let’s look at the people the last couple of months who went into the media to argue who was the voice of the industry. Let’s look at all these fuckin’ assholes who will crawl on their hands and knees 20 fuckin’ miles just to give an interview and see if any of them cares. Because I’m going to tell you where the bodies are buried.”
Bowen said he was willing to bet that in Brazil the producers have to physically take the talent to the labs and have them physically tested and pay for the tests.
“I am willing to bet you that TT Boy does not have tests on anybody,” opines Bowen. “Here’s the beautiful thing. On every movie that he puts out, by law, he tells you the name of the record keeper, the address where the records are kept and the hours that those records can be inspected by anybody. I am willing to bet you right now that there isn’t one person in this industry who fucking will care enough to go and look at his records and see if he has any AIDS tests on anybody who ever worked for him in the years that he’s been going to Brazil. Not only him but all the other shooters. Because almost every fucking company has people shooting in Brazil. And every one of them will tell you, you can come to our offices during business hours and inspect our records. I’m willing to bet you there isn’t one fucking person in this industry who cares enough to go and find out if they are actually testing the people that the Americans are working with, and if they are actually doing the right thing.”
Asked what lit the match up his ass to come up with this thought, Bowen said he had been thinking of Abraham Lincoln, of all people. “If he was shot at an industry event, the entire audience would be calling their press agents to get interviews,” Bowen says. “Wilkes-Booth would decide that he wasn’t going to say anything and just go home and nobody would bother him. The government would probably be legislating on how people could come and go into the theater. And everybody would have a theory but nobody would actually do anything about it. No matter what happens in this industry, no matter how life threatening it is, it’s just a bunch of fucking self-serving assholes who just want to be interviewed. Nobody cares. They don’t care if their friends live or die. They don’t care, because if anyone of them cared, if people die, they will go and check TT’s records, and they will go and check the records of every company that shoots in Brazil, or Prague or any foreign country where they’re not under the scrutiny of the industry where there’s producers are left- on trust- to do the job properly. No one cares enough to find out.”
Bowen said organizations, interviews and talent unions matter little in the overall scheme because no one will confront the truth.
“See if there is one person in this multi-billion dollar industry who cares enough,” Bowen challenges. “These are public records. They must be made available. By law anybody can go and knock on the door of TT Boy’s address during business hours and ask to see the records. Nobody will ask. But 20 people will give you an interview. But nobody will do anything- not AVN, not Bill Margold, not Quasarman- nobody.”
