Ft. Wayne, Indiana- from www.journalgazette.net – When the adult-film star first appeared in Allen Superior Court’s misdemeanor and traffic division to answer to drunken-driving charges, paparazzi waited outside.
But on Tuesday, more than a week after she left actor Charlie Sheen and his traveling show, Rachel Oberlin’s sentencing drew little attention other than from a few in the crowded courtroom who seemed to recognize her.
Oberlin, 24, a Woodburn native, will spend the next year on probation and her driver’s license will be suspended for 90 days after she entered a guilty plea last week to a single charge of operating a vehicle while intoxicated, a Class C misdemeanor.
Oberlin, known in the adult entertainment industry as Bree Olson, was arrested on a snowy night in February after she crashed a black Lexus into a city light pole near Swinney Park, according to a police report.
She told police who responded to the crash that she slid on ice. But officers at the scene reported she smelled of alcohol, was unsteady on her feet and her eyes were bloodshot and watery, according to the police report.
An uncooperative Oberlin repeatedly requested an attorney and did not adequately participate in a breath analysis performed by an officer at the scene, according to the report.
Oberlin was formerly associated with Sheen and was one of two women he referred to as “goddesses” who lived with him. She split from the actor late last month and returned home to Fort Wayne.
As part of a plea agreement with prosecutors, additional charges of operating a vehicle while intoxicated, a Class A misdemeanor, speeding and reckless driving were dismissed.
Within minutes Tuesday, Oberlin’s hearing was over, and she followed her attorney, Randy Fisher, quickly out the courtroom door. She left with a year on probation, a 60-day suspended jail sentence and a couple hundred dollars’ worth of fines and fees.
No paparazzi or TV cameras were waiting outside.
