French First Lady Carla Bruni-Sarkozy is taking legal action to stop a fashion company from selling bags bearing a nude black-and-white image of her.
Bruni-Sarkozy’s lawyer, Gesche Le Fur, told a French court on Monday that her client was seeking $168,300 in damages from clothing vendor Pardon, Reuters reported.
The clothing firm is based on the French Indian Ocean island of La Reunion.
Pardon has been giving the bags to its clients. The nude photo of Bruni-Sarkozy was taken in 1993 when she was a model.
The same image fetched $91,000 at a recent New York auction, Reuters reported.
