Porn Valley- With Cytherea and Brian attending to family emergencies, Harry Weiss was alone on the KSEX mike Thursday night. But Weiss had plenty of company and resulting banter with industry star Cassie Courtland and award winning director Michael Raven. Courtland is with www.exoticstarmodels.com . And Raven, with Wicked Pictures, had a few comments to make about his time as an industry performer “five years and 30 pounds ago”.
Wankus noted the breaking news that Kaylani Lei’s mystery man has been identified. Raven wondered if it was that big of a mystery. “I didn’t realize nobody knew.” Beyond that, Raven said he couldn’t offer much more information.”The person they asked about it was Ron Jeremy of all people,” said Weiss. Raven said Kaylani seems happy and he’s happy for her.
“It’s my understanding that she filled her contractual obligations,” he said. “She didn’t actually leave. She just finished up what she was currently obligated for. I’m pretty sure the door was left open but I really don’t know much more than that.” Raven thinks he was the first one to shoot her.
“Somebody else [Roy Garcia] discovered her,” he said. “Somebody else brought her to my attention but I think I shot her first scene.” Courtland has also been working Raven and did a movie called Visitors. Raven said Keri Sable and Kimberly Kane are the main stars but the story is about a bunch teenagers who spend the night in the woods. Courtland, who has a scene with Marcos Leon, gets hauled off by aliens. “It was a lot of fun.” Courtland went on to explain a heavy dialogue scene around a campfire. “A shortly after that I get abducted.”
Weiss noted that a lot of top tier directors are just there for the dialogue then walk off and have an assistant direct the sex.
“You’re there for everything,” Weiss told Raven. Raven said Courtland did an incredible job.
“It was a tough show,” he said. “It was all night. We spent two night out on location in Valencia, in the woods, with the ticks and the mosquitoes. It was pretty cold as I was recall. We watched the sun come up.” Weiss asked if there was any money in the budget for mosquito repellant. Raven said the budget was stretched as it was.
Weiss noted that Raven’s other half over at Wicked was contract girl Julia Ann and wondered whether it was weird for him directing her. Raven said it wasn’t and didn’t see it as any different from directing anyone else.
“You’re digging around for some shit,” Raven surmised, judging the implications of Weiss’ questions. “Turn over the rocks- see what bugs crawl out,” he laughed. Weiss remembered a movie, Killer Sex, in which he did a non-sex role for Raven where Randy Spears and Julia Ann play honeymooners.
“The hit men come and to save her life Randy’s supposed to throw her off the bed. He didn’t throw her too well off the bed. And I remember you going in there and grabbing her, tossing her like a rag doll, saying that’s what I want. Raven remembers her hurting her shoulder when he threw her off the bed. “We had pads on the ground.” But Raven thinks Spears didn’t wan to hurt the merchandise.
“I said give her a shove, man. Shove her off the bed. That’s what I want.” For his part, Weiss got shot in the head and had his ass kicked by Julia Ann. “Then she put a bullet in your head.” Raven also remembers Weiss in that movie being drunk off his ass, pissing in an alley and rolled in the alley. Weiss explained that it was all part of the movie and that he urged Julia Ann to kick him harder in the scene to get it over with. “I was sore the next couple of days.”
Weiss said the scene was done with a lot of blood but that part got cut out. Raven was under the belief that for the DVD version, that was kept in but that he had to tone some things down. “But it was fun.”
On some of his bigger movies, Raven notes that Jonathan Morgan will serve as A.D. Weiss said another Wicked girl was on recently- Keri Sable- and that it was established that she didn’t get where she was on the strength of Brad Armstrong’s penis. Courtland was asked if she had been compromised by Armstrong. Weiss said that’s the rumor of things, at least.
Raven assumed the same rumor has spread about any director who’s enjoyed a degree of success in the business. Especially with girls getting on boxcovers or enjoying contracts. Raven said at Wicked the directors are getting more input about who goes on the boxcovers and the design itself. As far as he’s concerned, Raven says it’s what benefits the movie the most. Raven also addressed the issue of fair representation noting that a boxcover girl who’s seen little in the movie isn’t playing fair with the customer.
“She should have the majority of the screen time, I should think.” Raven said Courtland is in maybe half the movie. “But it’s technically Keri [Sable’s] movie.” Raven has been in the business going on ten years; Courtland, six months. Weiss brought up the Dani Woodward interview in which Woodward says having “seniority” in the business, she can get away with being late on set. Raven says yeah it’s seniority given that the average girl is in six months. Raven said it depended how late she was and if it was something like two hours, she’d be replaced. But Raven says he enjoys shooting Woodward and that she’s done great scenes with him.
“Unless it’s a contract girl, anybody’s replaceable in the movie.” Weiss’ opinion was that a girl late on the set is replaceable no matter who she is. Courtland was asked if she could get away with being late, according to September dawn’s standards. Courtland said, if anything, the insistence is on being early. “I’ve never been late,” she said. Courtland said she’s been working since the age of 15 and views porn as any other job.
Besides, says Raven, September runs a tight ship. Weiss says L.A. Direct doesn’t put up with that either.
“This is a business- if girls are late, productions get pushed back. How much does it cost you per hour to have all those people there?” Raven said on a good sized feature, tens of thousands of dollars per day. Courtland who’s worked with Penthouse, Playgirl, Vivid and Playboy, says she’s just trying to be successful. She’s done a Hustler layout. Courtland figures she’s done 35-40 scenes so far. Courtland’s favorite male performers so far are Randy Spears and Manuel Ferrara. She also likes Karina Kay.
She hasn’t been around long enough to put anyone on her “no” list. “But I am selective- I’ve turned down jobs before,” she said. Courtland says she loves older men but doesn’t do anal. “But I do anal at home.” Courtland says she isn’t comfortable enough to do it on camera.
“I do pretty much everything else.” But when presented the idea of a bukkake, Courtland didn’t think so. Cream pies are also out with her. Courtland’s idea of extreme was a scene she did with Ferrara for Red Light where five guys came in and popped on her face. “That’s as far as it’s ever went. They were standing there and jerking off.” Asked why she liked Ferrara, Courtland says it’s chemistry. Raven says a lot of girls will tell you that. “I hate him for that reason,” he mugged. “But that’s a whole other issue.”
Raven, who’s shot Ferrara, said he can be very forceful and aggressive without being abusive.
“I don’t know too many women who don’t like it a little rough from time to time. But abuse is a whole different story.” In the same breath Courtland said she hadn’t met anyone where she was compelled to continue a scene off the set. Though she doesn’t have a significant other, Courtland likes to keep her private and professional lives distanced. However, she does booty calls. Courtland says now that she’s in porn, it’s hard to have a boyfriend.
Raven said the international language of booty calls begins with, “Hey, what are you doing?” Courtland said she’ll only make booty calls to guys. “I love men.” Courtland says she likes different guys for different reason. It’s not always about looks.
“I do not like conceited, cocky guys,” she adds. “That is a big turn off to me.” Courtland is an occasional drinker but stays home to watch movies. In her booty calls parameters, Courtland said she’ll make house calls but eschews privates. Having been with September Dawn’s agency from the beginning, Courtland said she never ran into the compliance video scam. Raven said you had to hand it to Regan Senter for coming up with that ploy but once you see the video you feel sorry for the girl. Weiss said Brianna Banks when she first started was with Regan Senter and fell for the compliance video.
With her doe legs, Weiss couldn’t figure out how Banks didn’t topple over with her gigantic jugs.
Weiss brought up Wankus and how he goes on the road with Tyler Faith. Raven was asked if he’ll accompany Julia Ann on trips. He said no. “I wouldn’t have the time to go with her, if I wanted to.” It was noted that Raven’s time is occupying with directing, editing, composing, casting, location scouting and writing. “I don’t do the catering- we hire somebody for that.” Raven’s average crew is 15 on the low side to 25. For The Visitors, Raven said he had a crew of maybe 20 and out them up overnight in a motel in Mojave. One night they took over a local bar.
“We also had close to 60 extras where a state highway was supposed to be road blocked and closed down. We needed the entire side of the road lined up with cars and people in the cars.”
On the Wicked docket for this year, Raven said Jonathan Morgan had one of his slapstick movies coming out, Power Tools Massacre. “They’re definitely intentional comedies.” Another one, camp Cuddly Pines had a big cast including Stormy and Jessica Drake. Randy Spears plays a small town sheriff in the production. The contract directors at Wicked include Raves, Morgan, Brad Armstrong and David Stanley. Weiss wondered who gets the biggest budgets.
“There’s not a lot of negotiating that goes on,” said Raven noting that directors generally get what they ask for. But some of the determinants are the number of days the show is going to take to shoot. “But they’re not all big budget shows.” Raven also pointed out that Wicked won’t skimp on any project that they want to put out a nice looking movie.In an ideal casting situation, Raven said he’d have Courtland playing a sexy girl from down south. Courtland is from Atlanta.
Keri Sable then called in. Weiss said Sable was nasty and like to get down and dirty. Asked if she made booty calls, Sable said only when she was drunk but it takes a lot more than two beers. Raven wondered what it took to be on the receiving end of a Sable booty call. Sable said a lot of alcohol. It was also noted that Sable’s home town is Buffalo, N.Y. Raven thought she was a California girl and observed that she talks about herself in the third person. Raven said he could see Sable being an east coast girl. “She has a dry sense of humor. She’s pretty witty though with those dry comebacks. You think about it for a second and realize, I just got tagged.”
Weiss said he just had a run-in with someone from the east coast- Ashley Blue. “She was totally obnoxious and I know obnoxious because I’m obnoxious.” Weiss explained that Cytherea was on Playboy’s Night Calls last Friday and Blue was on as well. Weiss said he never met Blue before and was talking to some people waiting for Cytherea.
“Ashley comes over and says you’re Harry Weiss from Weiss & Associates- how come we never met? I didn’t know if she wanted to talk some business or was hitting on me.” Weiss said the conversation got to where Blue was being obnoxious.
“I didn’t know if she was busting my balls because she had nothing better to do. I’m convinced that she wanted a piece of me.” Weiss urged Blue to call. And Raven urged her to call saying, “What are you doing?”
Getting back to Sable, Raven also thought there was a Sable movie out this month called Dark Sins, her first official movie as a Wicked contract girl.
Weiss was trying to be discreet with his question but Sable said she didn’t have to blow Raven. “None of that goes on over at Wicked- that I know of,” she said.
Raven asked Sable about the shoot with the ticks, the mosquitoes and the sunrise. Sable said it was a lot of fun. The worst part she said was the cold because she had to be naked. “Everything else was pretty good.” Sable also cried in the movie and Weiss asked if a Wicked check bounced. Raven explained that all of her friends got abducted and the aliens were after her. “She had to get in the right head space for that.”
Sable said she hasn’t had sex with Courtland but was on her to-do list. “We used to live together,” she laughed.”
Asked who at Wicked she’d like to do a booty call with, Sable said Julia Ann.
