Caught on video: Jenna Jameson

Jenna Jameson is arguably the most-watched actress in America. Her movies, however, aren’t playing at the local multiplex. She is the leading porn star of all time, according to Adult Video News. She’s also CEO of her own adult-video production and Internet company, ClubJenna Inc. Her surprisingly compelling new book, “How to Make Love Like a Porn Star,” is full of anecdotes that range from horrifying to hilarious and tells the story of her life: half tragedy, half triumph. Jameson, on tour promoting her book, spent a few minutes on the phone with PDQ recently. Afterward, PDQ lit up a smoke.

What does growing up in Las Vegas do to a person? Growing up in Las Vegas definitely had an impact on my life. When I lived there, the only way to have fun was to have a fake ID. So we got fake IDs. . . . It’s pretty sad.

You say in your book that you were making 4 G’s a night as a dancer while still in high school. How much do you think you made in total?

Let’s see, I worked as a dancer for about a year and a half, and the first six months I worked six night a week . . .

How much of it did you blow?

A lot of it.

On what?

Huge shopping sprees, nights of partying, renting really big houses for no reason. Crazy stuff that all young people do. Expensive champagne that I never drank.

What’s the funniest porn movie title of all time that can be printed in a newspaper?

“Edward Penishands.”

Favorite movie of all time, nonporno?

It’s between “Scarface” and “So I Married an Axe Murderer.” I love that movie.

In your book, you tell aspiring porn stars to choose the right name and avoid names such as “Craven Booty.” Why?

The porn industry is going so mainstream. If you choose a silly name and become a big star, you’re going to be embarrassed.

You recommend using Neosporin instead of shaving gel to help reduce shaving bumps in intimate areas. Any other helpful hygiene hints?

Always wash your face at the end of the night. You’ll wake up beautiful. Also, don’t get married. No, I’m kidding. My husband is from Cleveland.

Is it true you don’t watch your sex scenes? Why not?

Because I critique them. I don’t say, “That’s so cool.” I’m like, “Oh my God, you can see back fat.’ . . . Look at that face!’ Then the next time I do a scene, I’m real self-conscious about it.

You say in your book that Nicolas Cage smelled like “the distilled sweat of homeless people.” Do you think you did him a favor by putting that in?

No. That’s the one thing in the book I would change. Nicholas was a really nice guy.

You wrote about stars such as Wesley Snipes, Sly Stallone and Bruce Willis making come-ons to you.

Sly was the one gentlemen of the group. Wesley Snipes was the worst. He offended a porn star. That’s not easy to do.

Are movie stars more or less lecherous than regular guys?

Less. They’re a lot less aggressive, but they’re more obnoxious.

You’ve been drawn into a number of destructive relationships. Why are some girls attracted to guys who treat them like dirt?

It’s almost like we are trying to punish ourselves. I’m not trying to get too philosophical, but society almost makes us that way. We are taught that sex is bad and that you should be ashamed of yourself for being a sexual person, and it becomes one big horrible cycle.

Why shouldn’t aspiring adult-film stars date or get married?

It’s really hard to have a relationship when you are an adult performer. It just gets messy.

Guys say all the time that they want to date porn stars. Good idea?

Depends on the porn star.

You say that adult-film stars can be role models for women. How?

Maybe not for what we do for a living. But we are sexually open and free. . . . We do it for ourselves. It’s freeing and gratifying. Women shouldn’t worry about what other people say. Who cares if you have cellulite?

Your message for Gloria Steinem and other feminists in your book cannot be printed in a newspaper. What’s the newspaper-friendly translation?

Shut up.

What have Viagra and similar drugs meant to the adult-film industry?

It’s brought more male talent into the industry. It’s hard to perform with 30, 40 people on a set and everyone watching. . . . It’s brought a lot of people into the business, good-looking guys. And that helps the girls.
