Porn Valley- With some guys tying the knot is like tying the noose. So you might wonder what’s in store for Nick Manning. I spoke to Manning this morning and offered him congratulations on his engagement to Tabitha Stevens. Manning called the Howard Stern show about 5:30 AM California time and proposed to Stevens on the air. Manning had been up since 4:15 with the E! Channel people who had a camera crew on him as he made the call. Manning says Stevens knew nothing about it.

“We filmed the whole thing- it was pretty cool,” says Manning. Manning says he was going to the gym with a friend of his about 4 Monday afternoon. They were talking about Stevens being on the show. According to Manning, his friend suggested that he call in while Stevens was on the air. But Manning decided to take it one better by asking Stevens to get married.

“I had one of the guys who works for me call Will over at Stern,” Manning relates. “By the time I got out of the gym he had already called back to say they thought it was great radio. ‘Howard’s really stoked- he digs you. He’s a big fan of Tabitha’s. We’ll call you around 4am and set it up for you.’ ”

Manning was asked what made him decide to pop the question. Manning said he got in the business about five years. “I was single and started dating a couple girls in the business. I saw Tabitha and from the very get go I was like, oh my God, she’s so smoking. We’ve never worked together. Then she got out of the business and I hardly ever saw her. I’d see her at AVN or run into her somewhere. We were always cool. It was Stacey Valentine’s, www.exoticstarmodels.com, birthday this summer at the Sagebrush Cantina. I went to her birthday party because she’s my roommate. And Tabitha just happened to be at the Sagebrush. She wasn’t even invited to the party. And she bumped into me. And we’ve been dating ever since. It was just one of those things.”

I was curious how with Valentine being Manning’s roommate that some intoxicating chemistry didn’t unfold there.

“Was there anything cooking with Stacey?”

“We’re really close. We’re friends,” says Manning. “I love Stacey. She’s great but Tabitha’s my girl.” Manning went on to say that he finds a lot of girls really cool in the beginning. “Here’s my problem, I always like to date Tens. When you’re limiting yourself to that small pool you’re going to wind up with some pretty kookie chicks. I wound up with a bunch of girls who were really cool with me in the beginning and loved having sex. But they really had a problem with what I do. But Tabitha has been so supportive, so understanding about my job. She’s just the coolest chick. That’s why I love her.”

Stevens also mentioned on the air that she was going to produce and star in her comeback movie. “She’s been talking about it,” says Manning. “I wish her the best. I hope it works out.” Manning says he may be in it or may produce it.

“I may distribute. I may put a cable deal together for her. We’ve talked about a lot of different scenarios and I’m not exactly sure where we’re at. I know she’s had some meetings with the TeN Channel and some things. If they go for the proposal, we’re ready to go.”

I imagined that this must be a shock to Manning’s system.

“I didn’t think I’d be talking to you today about getting married, that’s for sure,” Manning says. [Actually that quote doesn’t sound right.]

I mention to Manning that I wanted to speak to him last week on the set of Vampire Chronicles. But he was quite preoccupied as it was.

“That was nuts over there, huh?” says Manning. “But a good movie, though. The movie was really cool because I work really well with [director] Jennifer James. She writes scripts that are very conducive to what I can do on film. We’ve worked well in the past and I think this will be our best work to date. I did three scenes – one of them was an orgy; and the other two were with women that I’ve worked very well with in the past- Julie Meadows and Shay Sights. Those were excellent scenes and I think the orgy will be the topper of them all. It was myself, another new guy named Hollywood and three girls- one was Lauren Phoenix, the other was Olivia O’Lovely and Yasmine.

“I came from an acting background,” Manning continues, “and I really enjoy doing dialogue, and the dramatic piece of it is really interesting to me. The other day I did some work with Nectar with Dick Smothers, Jr., and the dialogue was pretty cool. I know Dick’s not performing any more but he’s still a good guy to read some lines with.”
