Porn Valley- Since she announced her return to the business several weeks ago, Phyllisha Anne’s been working like shit shoveler at Ringling Bros. Monday night, I finally got an opportunity to have a few words with her. She said just make sure her name’s spelled right. I tell her my advice to girls has always been- from a press point of view- choose a name that doesn’t bust balls to spell.

“No one even thought of telling me that,” she laughs. “My worst nightmare is my name. I tried to change it but that didn’t work.” Phyllisha Anne was asked about her comeback.

“I haven’t really gone anywhere,” she laughs. “I had been going to school- now I have something to fall back on. I love porn. I love sex. I love this business.” School for Phyllisha Anne is the fact that she has a major in graphics design and a minor in animation. I asked her if that meant she could draw cartoon characters.

“I can do 3D studio mattes,” she says. “I can’t do Shreck but I can do Toy Story. There is a difference.” Phyllisha Anne had been going to school on and off for 2 1/2 years then went straight on for another two. But if she’s going to be honest about things, Phyllisha Anne says she doesn’t like being on a computer all day.

“I figured I’d go to school while I could afford it instead of waiting until I’m done with porn and go, oh my God! What am I going to do now?” she says. For now, Phyllisha Anne likes the idea of making more money- which porn can afford her.

“And I’m trying to get my pilot’s license,” she adds. “I like to fly. I like being active- you can sleep when you’re dead.” Her first scene on the comeback trail was with Extreme. However she didn’t have to suck a milkshake down her ass.

“It was like some Slap Happy- it was a lot of fun,” she says. “This isn’t the kind of stuff you have in the real world.” She’s also working on another big project- an adult soap opera.

“It’s the first adult soap opera,” she states. [Hustler and the series Mark Kismet is shooting for them might tend to argue that point, as well as Bill Margold who shot a soap opera for Arrow years ago.]

“I play the main character named Lauren, and that’s taking up a lot of time,” Phyllisha Anne explains. “The story is I just came out here from Buffalo after a divorce from my husband. I move in with my sister who’s an actress and I go hog wild.” Phyllisha Anne’s shooting this project for a company that’s out of Dallas.

“And this is really good because that’s where my family is from,” she continues. “I get to go home and see my family. It works perfectly.” Phyllisha Anne has been in the business since 1998 – long enough for her family to have adjusted to the fact that she’s in porn.

“I come from the middle of nowhere,” she laughs. “My mom’s okay with it. She’s fine. And my father is a Hell’s Angel. [On the treasury committee no less.]

“That’s where I got it from,” she thinks. I suggest that it must have been fun growing up in that household.

“It was normal to me,” she replies. “I didn’t see anything different- all the bikers and the clubhouse. That was normal. My grandparents were in it from my father’s side. The whole family was part of it and still is.”

Family reunions must be very colorful, I suggest.

“Colorful and loud,” she adds. Aside from being a rebel, the transition to adult seemed like a normal one for her. Phyllisha Anne’s first adult movie was for Shane’s World.

“It was their first slumber party,” she relates. “It was me and two of my girlfriends from Oregon, and I worked with Devon and Shane. Shane from Shane’s World brought me down from Portland, Oregon where I was stripping. That’s what everyone does in Portland. And to this day I have a pole in my bedroom. It’s my stress release.”

Asked if porn was better the second time around, Phyllisha Anne laughs about the fact that during her first run in the business she never caught an STD. Her first week back, she got Chlamydia.

“I’m like flipping out,” she says. “I never caught anything- ever. And then some bitch stole all my makeup. I’m talking about thousands of dollars worth of makeup- uuugh. That was crazy. Somebody’s got to set these girls straight. It’s nonsense. So that part makes me wonder.”

Having seen her at the KSEX Games, I remark to Phyllisha Anne I thought she looked better than she ever did.

“I definitely feel better,” she says. “I’m more confident about my sexuality. I’m more confident about me.”

Because she always stayed in touch with the business and went to social events, Phyllisha Anne was never out of the loop and admits that the KSEX Games allowed her to make some inroads, particularly with Seymore Butts and his new talent agency, Lighthouse, www.lhtalent.com.

Even so she was very nervous her first time back in front of the camera.

“I wondered if I’d still be accepted,” she says. “But when I got back in there it was, hey, it’s good to see everybody again.” During her tenure in the business, Alexander Sanders remains her favorite performer to work with. And they were married for awhile.

“And I like Billy Glide- I like a lot of them,” she says. “I don’t have anything about them that I don’t like.” Hers was pretty much a drama-free existence in the industry, and that’s because she stayed out of the firing line.

“I kept out of things,” she laughs. “These people are nuts. But it’s great to watch! As long as you don’t get wrapped up in it, it’s wonderful, but definitely not normal.”

Asked what prompted her to go with Butts’ new talent agency, Phyllisha Anne says she always admire him.

“Everything he does makes sense,” she says. “He’s very smart and I don’t think I can go wrong with someone who’s smart like that. He makes smart business moves. If I went with anybody I couldn’t have asked for better. It was great when they asked me. Yeah!! That’s perfect.”
