Missouri – from www.connectmidmissouri.com – The Mid-Missouri Internet Crime Task Force is working with Canadian authorities to bring down a child pornography modeling scam.
An undercover detective at the Boone County Sheriff’s Department, posing as a minor girl on the internet, was contacted by a 23-year-old woman, who claimed to work for a modeling agency in California. The woman told the decoy that she would be an excellent model, but needed to fill out some forms.
The woman told the decoy not to tell her parents about the offer until the agency was sure it wanted to hire the decoy. The woman also told the decoy to send a variety of photographs, including sexually graphic ones.
During the investigation, police found that the woman did not live in California, but in Canada. Task Force investigators contacted Canadian police, who are now continuing the investigation.
The Mid-Missouri Internet Crime Task Force urges children and adults to be leery of similar scams on the internet.
