Porn Valley- Kelly Wells likes to refer to herself as Kelly Fuckin Wells. Likes the brashness, the ring of it, the panache of referring to yourself as Kelly Fuckin’ something or other. Wells says Taylor Rain is a genius for the same reasons, Rain referring to herself as Taylor Motherfuckin’ Rain.
“That’s fucking catchy,” says Wells. “But in Taylor’s case, everyone knows who Taylor Rain is but Tayler Motherfuckin’ Rain stands out a helluva lot more. It gives you something to laugh about. I could put out a million names of people in this industry who’s names just sounding fucking retarded. It’s kind of like the girl next door with a kick. You know what I mean?”
Wells describes herself as a pretty straight forward person. “I’m very honest,” she states. “People respect people who are honest in this business. If I was a crack whore in this business and I went to work strictly to pay for my crack habit, and one morning I couldn’t fucking wake up for a Red Light scene- let’s say I was doing a scene for Vince Vouyer. My call time is ten o’clock and I call him at eight thirty in the morning and go, Vince, I can’t make it. Hey, what’s wrong? I can say my fuckin’ grandma died. But you know somethin’? I got a fucking crack habit. I apologize. That makes me look like a fucking idiot but I would rather be honest from the get go than be a fucking liar and be found out about. Honesty doesn’t really get you in trouble. Honesty is the best policy. People may not like what you have to say, but people will always respect you if you tell the truth.”
I had a chat with Wells and her candor Monday afternoon and have come to know her from several Skeeter Kerkove, www.bkmax.com shoots. Wells loves Skeeter, says Skeeter’s her favorite director, particularly for his ability to exact performances from women. “He really knows how to push a woman to try harder and be her best,” she says.
Wells is also high in her praise of Jim Powers. “I love that man,” she adds. “He’s fucking cool. I love the way he shoots. He puts humor into what he does. He makes the crew feel happy. He makes the talent comfortable. He makes you laugh and it’s not every day that I get to work for somebody like that. Not only that, but Jim and Skeeter put so much money in my pocket every month with scenes that it’s fucking unbelievable. When somebody likes you that much they’ll make sure you’re in everyone of their movies.” Wells worked for Skeeter last week doing an interracial scene with Julian St. Jox for Nectar Entertainment, and I ask Wells what she’s been up to since then.
“I usually work every day,” says Wells. “I’ve been working relentlessly so I took a couple of days off. I’ve been meeting some companies today. But I usually work every day.” Wells says she took the time today to do some personal p.r., by introducing herself to companies that haven’t shot her as yet.
“I have to to do that sometimes,” she says. “That’s very important.” According to Wells, who’s been shooting scenes for about seven months, she doesn’t have a real feel as yet for how well she’s established in the business.
“I know how well I do,” she says. “But I don’t know how many people know me or who knows me. I think, for the most part, the bigger gonzo companies know who I am because I’m established with them. But I was going through a list of 50 companies the other day, and that’s not even all of them- companies I haven’t even shot for. I’m, like, this is crazy.” To be sure, Wells has worked for high profile outfits like Red Light District, Anabolic, Wildlife…
“I’ve even done a feature for Jill Kelly,” she adds. “I’ve probably shot for the companies that come to mind.” But, besides performing in videos, Wells, who hails from Vegas, also includes dancing and bachelor parties in her adult entertainment resume.
“I’ve been on both sides of the fence if you know what I mean,” she says. Wells will also tell you that curiosity is what drew her to porn. “Like a little kid who wants to put his hands in the cookie jar,” she laughs. I tell Wells I’ve seen some of her scenes and she’s way beyond the chocolate chips and the cookie jar.
“You know what the hell you’re doing,” I tell her. “You sure as hell don’t look like you’re curious.” Wells agrees. “Not so curious any more,” she says. “I’ve dipped my hand, now I know what to expect. I like what I get when I go into the jar. Not only do you get something sweet, you fill your stomach, too.” I wonder if Wells has had a few surprises in her journey of discovery.
“A few,” she says. “But not too many. I know for the most part how to handle men and how to deal with men. I know men a lot better than I used to- and that’s men predominantly in the industry- the producers, the directors. I work well with men. I wouldn’t say that I work well with women as much.”
They don’t happen now, but Wells can tell you about a few personal slipups where she’s had fast ones pulled on her. “Where I was scheduled to do a scene; we discussed the type of scene and the payment before the scene,” she explains. “Then something would be slipped into the scene we didn’t discuss. Those kinds of things upset me. I would say, hey, my rate is more for D.P. or anal. It’s only fair. If you’re scheduled to do a boy-girl scene, and a guy puts his cock in your ass, you know you should be getting paid more for that.” I ask Wells if that happened much to her in the beginning of her career.
“Let’s put it this way,” she replies. “I’ve had some pretty good advice from some mentors about men and how they work. I wouldn’t say I’ve been in too many situations where I’ve been taken advantage of. I was smart enough where I saw it coming.” Does it happen now? No, says Wells. “I’m not one of those women that just free suck everybody on the side. If I do, I prefer to keep it to myself but I’m just telling you that I’m not like that type of person.” Wells stresses that she’s about business. “Do I love to fuck? Yeah, who doesn’t. But I get paid well for it. As long as you keep it about business.”
I also address Wells’ past comments where she practically expresses a love for pain. “I like pain,” she says. “Pain is an aphrodisiac. I like to be beat. I won’t say strangled but I like to be choked. I like my hair pulled. I just recently developed a fetish for scratching, like scratching my ass, running my fingernails along the inner part of my thighs while I’m getting fucked missionary style. The pain is awesome. It intensifies the sex and the penetration. I really am into pain.” Wells laughs. Wells says she made the discovery when several gonzo companies asked if she’d like to try this or that.
“Then I worked with Melissa Lauren a couple of months ago and she beat the shit out of me,” Wells points out. “But I loved it. I went home with bruises and welts and marks all over my body. I said you know what? It takes a special kind of somebody to take some shit like this.”
Wells is also quick to point out that she’s not getting choked or strangled in her personal life. “You have to have a place and a time for those types of things,” Wells says. “If you do it all the time- both business and personal- you can’t keep what you do on camera sacred. It’s not special any more. You don’t make love to somebody on camera unless you’re doing a feature. If you’re shooting gonzo, that’s hardcore lovemaking or you can call it whatever you want. But save the soft shit for home. If you want to be hardcore, you got to keep it in one place and one place only or you’ll burn out on both ends.”
I ask Wells what she’d consider a great time sexually in her private life. “I like to be teased a little,” she offers. “I don’t like to talk dirty. I don’t like to have to do the work. I like it when the guy takes control and he makes love to you. That’s what I like.” Noting that Wells is following a “relentless” work schedule, I ask if there’s some kind of game plan behind this torrid pace.
“Not only do I like to make money, I like to have fun making money,” Wells states. “That’s the great part about porn. It’s the double whammy. On those days when I’m not scheduled to work I may make a few phone calls to make sure that I’ve got work- just to make sure that I’ve got something to do and I’m making money. If I’m not making money and I’m not physically active, I’m probably pretty bored.”
Wells tells about the time she was dancing with a girl in Vegas. “She had done some escorting; she had done a couple of movies,” says Well. “I’m not going to give a name but she used to bring her movies to work. It enticed me. She slipped me a phone number to her agent once and said, hey, check it out. This might be something that you’d want to do.”
Wells loves what she does. “It’s not so much the money any more. It’s fame- that’s what I want more than anything. I want recognition. And like any good porn whore, or porn star, whatever you want to call them, everybody who’s good at what they do needs recognition.”
Wells is asked to recite what she feels are her strengths.
“Being able to take just about anything and not fuckin bitch about it,” she replies. “I never bitch about it. I can’t describe to you sometime how much it hurts to take two cocks in my ass. But once you do it more than once, it gets easier every time after that. It’s like having sex for your first time. That’s what it’s like to do your first double anal. It’s awful. Then after that it gets easier and you fuckin’ love it. Asked if she’s gotten to that point, Wells says she loves double anal. “I love D.P.s. Sometimes I love double anals better than D.P.s.”
Interestingly, Wells says double vag is harder for her. “My pussy is so small that to do double vag would make my pussy hurt for hours afterwards. I can do a double anal with no problem. But if I do a double vag scene, the end of the day I feel like I’ve had a baseball bat shoved up my pussy with no consideration.”
Being that she loves double anal so much, I ask Wells what it was like the first time she tried anal. “It was so crazy that you say that,” she said. “I was doing a movie for Max Hardcore, www.maxhardcore.com and he really reamed my ass. At that time I didn’t know what an enema was, so you can only imagine that I made a mess. I thought I would never do porno again, that I would never do another fucking movie in porn because he was so hard. But afterwards, Max said, hey look, if you can do a scene with me and survive, the rest of porn is a cakewalk. He was right.”
Tha was Wells’s first sex scene. “Either you’re turned off by porn or you’re going to be turned on by porn after a Max Hardcore scene,” she states. “I was turned on by it because at that point I knew that if I could fucking deal with that ass reaming and that hardcore shit, that I could take anything after that.”
In Wells’ estimation, she was a pretty good kid.
“Very quiet, I kept to myself a lot,” she points out. “I was very artistic. I kept it pretty solo. I didn’t play with a lot of the other kids. I’m not really a big people person. I love people on an individual level but I never went out and played with other kids. Never in big groups. Big groups scare me. I love one-on-ones with people, and I’ve been like that since I was young. But for the most part I was a pretty good kid. I didn’t get into a lot of trouble. I didn’t get out of line. And I never guessed I would be a porn star.”
But neither can Wells lend a clue as to what he might have been doing other than porn. “You never really know where life’s going to take you,” she states. “I really can’t put my finger on that. Because if I went back in time and made a decision differently, I’d never really know where I’d end up.”
Wells lost her virginity at a Halloween party four years ago. “I was with my best friend in high school,” she remembers. “I think I was a junior that year and she was a big Goth chick, a big slut. I’m not stereotyping but she had pretty loose morals.” According to Wells, the guy she ended up with that night wanted to fuck another girl from school. “I was really attracted to him and she said why don’t you fuck my friend. It just happened from there. He was really drunk. I was drunk. He doesn’t remember me but I remember him. He remembers fucking me but he didn’t remember what I looked like.”
Wells was dressed as “a Britney Spears gone bad,” according to her. “I was in a Catholic school girl outfit. I was looking pretty hot. I looked like a vamped out Britney Spears with a little cat in me. A catty Britney. That’s what I was. I can’t believe I remembered that.” Asked if she has a boyfriend, Wells preferred not to comment specifically but stated that anyone who’s an understanding person would accept what you do for a living. “That’s all I’m going to say.”
Neither do Wells’ parents know what she does for a living and Wells doesn’t associate much with them. Enough said, according to her.
When she’s in town, Wells can stay anywhere from a week to five weeks depending on her work schedule. “It depends on my level of work and how willing I am to go to Vegas on my day’s off,” she says. “When I get pretty exhausted, I don’t really fucking care to put in that extra ten hours of driving every weekend.”
You gather from talking to Wells that recreation is a foreign word. “I don’t go to parties,” she states. “I don’t snort crack or shoot heroin up my arm. I don’t party. I don’t drink. I sit in and I watch TV. That’s the only thing I really can do. I don’t really have a lot of time to go out. I suppose if I did, I’d find something else to do besides sitting around and watching TV.”
When she has the free time, Wells prefers to sleep. “It’s always nice to catch up,” she rationalizes. “Especially when you’re giving your body a daily beating.”
