Conversations with Brandy Alexandre

From the Gene Files, 8/22/02- “The current issue of Star Magazine has a tell-all about the tell all book Brandy Alexandre’s been writing for the past four years. To wit:

The Day Warren Beatty Exposed Himself …and other memoirs of a Hollywood Porn Queen.

A former porn star is trying to sell a manuscript of her autobiography – and there are a slew of guys with recognizable names who won’t be happy once it’s published. That’s because shameless Brandy Alexandre, whose ingenue looks translated into big bucks for porn peddlers of 56 films, is naming names in her tome Shot on Video.

“I looked innocent because I was a real professional secretary, and no one knew what I did on the side,” Left Coast’s Alexandre tells Confidential. “I was working the desk at a post-production company, so I got to meet a lot of famous guys.”

One day, she says, then-single Warren Beatty came in to do some voice-overs. “Out of the blue, he asked if I was a real blonde,” she recalls. “I said I was, and he said: ‘Prove it.’ So I told him I would, if he showed me his. He looked around to make sure there was no one else around, and out it came. He wasn’t wearing any underwear. So, I lifted my skirt. He seemed satisfied and left.”

More graphic was her encounter with has-been comic Pauly Shore. For some reason, the former MTVer and star of Encino Man ended up at a porn-industry backyard barbeque, says Alexandre. So did Brandy, who is now 35 and retired from the biz. “I guess he’s the black mark on my record,” she says. “We ended up in a garden shed. While servicing Pauly, one of his cronies tried to get in on the action. I wouldn’t let him do that, and that didn’t make Pauly too happy.”

The director of The Exorcist and the soon-to-be-released The Hunted, William Friedkin, had a most uncommon approach. At home, Friedkin was getting divorced from TV-series star Lesley-Anne Down. At the studio, he was finishing To Live and Die in L.A. That’s when he noticed the pretty secretary. “Billy was heading up the stairs when he asked me: ‘Would you mate with me?’ I was shocked,” says Alexandre. “But instead of allowing myself to blush and sputter, I countered with: ‘Sure, Billy when?’ He hesitated a moment and said: ‘I’ll get back to you.'”

He did, and the two consummated their affair a half-dozen times at the fancy Beverly Hill hotel L’Ermitage, claims Brandy. To know more about Friedkin’s weird requests – remember, this is the guy who gave us one of the scariest movies ever – you’ll have to get the book!

Then there was an encounter at the swanky Beverly Hill Hotel. Alexandre says she found Eagles frontman Don Henley, who was single at the time, quite the partnet. “He asked me not to tell,” Alexandre says coyly. ‘Sorry, Don!’ “

Gene sez: I spoke to Brandy this afternoon.

Gene: Are you writing books.

BA: I’ve been writing this same book for I don’t know how long.

Gene: What happened. The Star do a story on you.

BA: The writing was going to do me a favor and attract someone who might want to represent it. You’d think he’d put my website address [kamikaze.org] in the article? NO!

Gene: What is the status of the book.

BA: The book is about 90% complete. I’ve been writing it off and on the last four years or so. I’d like to publish it. I got turned down from one guy who said he wouldn’t be the best representative of the work. The first agent I was referred to was by a legitimate writer. But she seemed to be wrapped up in her own little personal dramas. The next one said to take ll of the stuff out that was in The Star. He said you don’t want to put any of that in there. That’s only one chapter. It’s kind of divided like frequently asked questions. That was the inspiration for it. He said you don’t want to do that. You want it to be more about you. I said that is about me. I did that. So I don’t think they’re the best representative of the work. I was getting flamed as usual in the news groups and it attracted the attention of the guy from Star. He enticed me into telling him some of the stories. And so he printed that hoping to stir up interest in it.

Gene: So are you going to have all these Warren Beatty stories in your book?

BA: Yeah.

Gene: I remember one time you telling me a Leonard Nimoy story.

BA: He’s not in a sexual context. Leonard’s a really nice guy. The guy at The Star said, well, if they were BIGGER star names…

Gene: Warren Beatty ain’t big enough?

BA: I didn’t actually fuck Warren Beatty. I gave him the Al Kooper one and he dropped that from the article. I did Al and Don Henley at the same time.

Gene: Don’t feel proud. Don Henley’s done everyone in Hollywood. And his name’s shown up in hooker books.

BA: Al has always denied it and I wanted his name to go into The Star. They were like the article’s getting kind of long and he’s really nobody now. I thought that was so hysterical.

Gene: How does one person run into so many people that they potentially get to star-fuck.

BA: I worked at a studio for three years before I got into porn. I thought you knew that.

Gene: I forgot to make the connection.

BA: I thought you knew that, I’m sorry.

Gene: I only know 90%. It’s the 10% that sneaks up on me. But I do remember our talking about it, but it totally escaped me. So you basically had the fish in the barrel opportunity.

BA: Yeah. What I started to say is that they said I could get a lot of money if I had done some other name stars. Well, I have…but who gets told on depends on how they treated me. There were a couple of people who were sweet and nice and I hope to do them again one day. It’s that kind of thing. I’ve never been a sell out. Gene, you got to know that.

Gene: How are you looking these days. Is your ass still as good as ever?

BA: Does the name Anna Nicole Smith mean anything to you?

Gene: You’re big enough now to get your own reality show.

BA: That would win a one share.

Gene: Or the other thing is to pit you and Anna Nicole in celebrity boxing.

BA: The full title of my book is Shot On Video: My 2000 Days in Porn. Or of porn. I haven’t decided yet. Because once I started to do the math from the day I shot my first movie to the day I did my last was something like 2,031 days.

Gene: The whole thing with Forest Lawn- did that ever get resolved in your favor. You ever make money off of that. [Alexandre was fired when it became known that she was a former porn star.]

BA: …Ah, yes. It was resolved in my favor.

Gene: You sound a bit circumspect.

BA: I’m supposed to be.

Gene: I know how those legal decisions come down. Then there was a time you were going to sue Stagliano.

BA: I did, actually, in The People’s Court thing way back.

Gene: Are you bound by that agreement, too?

BA: I got like $1200 out of that. I actually had filed four different small claims suits so that I could take advantage of statutory maximums. I separated them based on titles rather than the agreement as a whole. When I was working for him that was the time when a movie was selling well when it sold 2,000 pieces in a year. And so we had this arbitrary idea that if it sold more, it was due to publicity and promotion. Because I was the publicity and promotions person I would get a 35-cent per unit commission royalty. Whatever you want to call it. When Evil Angel movies started going out the door at 2,500-3,000 pieces he said that’s just what it is and it has nothing to do with promotion. I said, John, the promotion issue is building the reputation and that is all my doing. But he stopped paying and all that and I sued him for it. But the one that actually went to People’s Court was over Buttman Goes to Rio. Which was an entirely different agreement. That was supposed to be from Day One of release that I was going to get 60-cents a unit. Because you couldn’t quite put a dollar amount on everything that I did with that movie- going to Rio, I shot video; I shot stills. I was in it. Everything. He stopped paying on that one, too. That’s the one I really put my foot down on. Peoples Court actually called me on one of the others and I said, no, I want to do this one. I still always asserted that he owed me money. Gosh, probably ’97, ’98 we were still talking and I of course mentioned it again. We were talking about the stock market and he was bragging about how much money he made, about $2,000 a day. I said, gosh, in two days you could pay off my car. We ended up making a bet about the stock market that it would go over its last high which at that time the Dow Jones had gone up to something like 7,042. Then it went back to 6,900. I bet that it would go over the 7,000 mark within the next 30 days. He said no. It absolutely will not. That was when the market first took off and it did. And he paid off my car. And we was not very nice about it, either.

Gene: It was only two days pay for God’s sake.

BA: It was bet. Of course it was one-sided. There wasn’t anything that would happen to me if it didn’t. But he was so sure. He’s always been so sure. He’s always right no matter what. Someone’s given him the God complex and I don’t know who it was. He’s a millionaire and I’m not. That’s the simple point. He says well I got to this point when you weren’t around. Yeah, but you started on that journey based on what I did for you.

Gene: You started on that journey as a walking stick.

BA: Something like that. He won’t acknowledge it. Oh, my part of the bet is that he would pay off the car and I would no longer say that he owes me money. So you have to put that in there.

Gene: Christ, someone needs a lawyer just to talk to you.

BA: NO! You have to behave appropriately.

9Alexandre mentions that she’s job hunting.]

BA: There was an ad for Playboy and an administrative assistant. They’re weird. It’s like should I tell them I was in porn. Because I was refused their affiliate program because it’s a porn site. And it’s not a porn site. There are no naked pictures on my site but they would not let me promote Playboy products because they said it was a porn site. I said you gave me website of the day for cryin’ out loud. I don’t get it. So I don’t know what to do with those people.
