VENICE, CA – What a year it’s been for Dane Cross. In a business that worships women and frequently all but ignores the male talent, he managed to make a name for himself with dozens of stellar performances. He excelled not only in sex scenes, but also in his acting roles, and it all added up to a magic moment on Saturday night when he won Best Male Newcomer at the 2010 AVN Awards.
Dane broke in as a star in the alt porn niche and then crossed over, working for companies like Vivid, Wicked, Adam & Eve, Penthouse, New Sensations and nearly every other major company in the industry. He broke out with his role as Bud Bundy in X-Play’s Not Married With Children XXX, which won him a Best Supporting Actor nomination. He also excelled in titles like The Office: A XXX Parody, Bree’s Screw Review, Not the Bradys XXX: Pussy Power, Not Bewitched XXX and others.
“Early in the year I set a goal that I wanted to be nominated for Male Newcomer,” Dane said Sunday morning. “Once I received the nomination, I started hoping I would win, but I didn’t want to get my hopes up. I couldn’t believe it when I actually won. It was an incredible night that I will never forget.”
The award season is still young and Dane is up for New Male Performer of the Year at the XBIZ Awards, which takes place next month.
“I’m not going to start thinking about XBIZ just yet,” he said. “I have to soak this in first. It’s a great feeling and I hope it leads to new opportunities.”
