I guess now that Milton’s been ousted from Private he’s got a lot of time on his hands to consult.
from www.screendaily.com – The film about Swedish porn king Berth Milton Jr is being packaged by William Morris Endeavor and produced by Wanted Pictures and Revelin Studios.
Swedish director Daniel Fridell, who most recently directed documentary El Médico: The Cubaton Story, is to direct the $20 million A Private Story, about the Swedish porn king Berth Milton Jr, who was earlier this year ousted as chief of the Private Media Group, founded by his father.
Fridell will disclose further details of the film at Cannes. It will be packaged by William Morris Endeavor (US), represented by global head of packaging Graham Taylor, and produced by Mirijam Johansson (Wanted Pictures), Ken Meyer and Jim Steele (Revelin Studios). Principal photography will commence this summer for a 2013 release.
Portrayed in an Airborne TV-FIVE film, The Reluctant Porn King, Milton explained how he went from a small Swedish town boy to running his father’s porn business, valued at $200 million. Publicly traded on the Nasdaq, the company’s investors stripped him of his ceo title, accusing him of embezzling funds and trying to rig aboard election. Milton said he would have his revenge on the screen.
“A lot of people should be very scared about this movie – famous people, wealthy people, politicians,” he told the New York Post.
“Even I myself won’t look that good, but I don’t care – it will be the truth.” From a foster home he started to work in his father’s sex shop at 11, fled as a teenager to become a seamen, and returned to Europe to make a fortune in real estate.
In the early 1990s he took over the Private Media Group from his father, now an alcoholic with financial problems, and turned it into a blue-movie powerhouse producing such movies as Gladiator, the dirty version of the Russell Crowe starrer. His father accused him of stealing the company, and – according to Milton Jr – hired a biker gang to kill him. Milton Sr died in 2005.
Fridell explained that the film will focus on the relationship between Jr and Sr – somewhere between The Godfather and Boogie Nights. His most recent film, El Medico: The Cubaton Story, was selected for the Mar De Plata, Busan and South by Southwest-Austin film festivals. Fridell’s 2006 Swedish feature, Say That You Love Me, won a Guldbagge, the Swedish national film prize, for Best Actress.
