WWW- She is one of the most recognizable faces in Hollywood, but actress Daryl Hannah revealed that she almost ended up as a prostitute after narrowly escaping being sold as a sex slave.
Hannah, who made waves in the hit 1984 movie ‘Splash’ opposite Tom Hanks, told US TV crime show America’s Most Wanted that she had almost ended up being a sex slave after being offered the chance to model for an album cover in Las Vegas, only to realise that the trip was a scam for a prostitution racket.
The ‘Kill Bill’ star also revealed to host John Walsh that she and another girl had narrowly escaped a horrible fate by climbing out of a window and fleeing.
However, the experience left her so haunted that she now going to fund a low-budget movie in which she will go undercover, armed only microphones strapped to her body and a hidden camera, as she travels to brothels to document how unsuspecting women are forced into to flesh trade.
Hannah, who is also using her money to help around 14,000 girls smuggled into the US annually from Eastern Europe and Asia, will be joining forces with international human rights groups to help free the sex slaves.
When asked why she would want to push into focus an even that still gives her the shivers, Hannah’s answer is simple – she cannot sit by idle after seeing so much pain.
“The more I learn, the more I am moved to take action,” The Sun quoted her, as saying.
