Because even though Exxxotica Miami announced record attendance at the Miami Convention Center this year it also announced that it would be moving its venue next year to Ft. Lauderdale. Strange don’t you think?

Our team felt that this move and the cooperation of the venue in Ft. Lauderdale will enable us to better realize our visions in a more synergistic way. We want to thank everyone who has supported Exxxotica Miami Beach throughout the years, but it’s time to start planning on Exxxotica South Florida in 2013.”
Synergistic way? Is that another way to describe pissed off parents? Because the biggest story to emerge from that convention besides Chyna’s frequent trips to the emergency ward was the fact that Miami Beach Senior High School celebrated its prom in the same facilities that housed Exxxotica Expo. Parents were not pleased and the news made all the major outlets.

The annual senior soiree shared a venue last weekend with a pornography convention in a jarring juxtaposition that left parents scratching their heads and covering their eyes.
“Oh no, I don’t like that,” school mother Loise Carter told CBS4-TV in Miami. “That is terrible. I don’t like it.”
Like it or not, the two events were held side-by-side, separated only by a wall and the efforts of school teachers, staff and security at the Miami Beach Convention Center.
The strange bedfellows were created by a double-booking at the huge facility, which was hosting the Exxxotica Expo on the same weekend inside the South Beach center.
School officials said their options in choosing a home for the prom were limited, and the convention center — despite the presence of the expo featuring explicit DVDs and sex toys — was the best choice.
“We do not hold our proms in venues such as hotels for the safety of our children and to discourage drinking,” said Gwen Zaldivar, the high school activities director.
“Therefore this was the only available location,” she told the TV station. “And it’s easy to control. The students are safe.”
