from www.radaronline.com – The quiet neighborhood of DeWitt, New York was overtaken by law enforcement officials from three different state and federal agencies Friday afternoon. Dozens of investigators descended on the home of Syracuse University assistant basketball coach Bernie Fine, who has been accused of molesting two teen boys.
The 65-year-old coach has now been suspended by the University as the investigation into the allegations continues. He’s worked there 35 years.
Fine’s wife. Laurie, stood nearby, The Syracuse Post-Standard reports, as investigators removed everything from file cabinets to patio furniture and took hundreds of photographs.
The men who’ve made the allegations against the longtime coach are both now adults. Fine has denied he ever molested them.
from www.latimes.com – Authorities involved in a sexual-abuse investigation of Syracuse University assistant basketball coach Bernie Fine carried out a search at his home in DeWitt, N.Y., on Friday but declined to comment on what they were looking for.
Jack Keller, a New York State Police spokesman, said troopers were called to assist the U.S. attorney’s office at the search. Assistant U.S. Attorney William Pericak said he “can’t confirm or deny” an investigation.
Two former ball boys for the Syracuse basketball team, Bobby Davis and his stepbrother, Mike Lang, have said they were molested more than 25 years ago by Fine, who is on paid administrative leave from the university. Fine has called the allegations “patently false.”
