BUFFALO, N.Y. – An auto bureau clerk faces six months in jail on bribe-taking charges after admitting she sold fake IDs to teenagers who wanted to pass as older than they really were.
Latasha Colbert, 25, pleaded guilty Thursday to five counts of third-degree bribe-receiving charges, all felonies. State Supreme Court Justice M. William Boller said Colbert also faces five years probation when she is sentenced Nov. 14.
Prosecutor Justice T. Wallens said Colbert, a part-time clerk at the Erie County Auto Bureau for six years, pleaded guilty to taking bribes between December 2006 and January 2008 when she was fired.
Colbert reportedly took $50 bribes from a 14-year-old runaway and a 19-year-old woman linked to a local escort service and teens seeking work in strip clubs and a casino.
