Oregon – from www.statesmanjournal.com – The mother of a 17-year-old girl who allegedly worked at a strip club in South Salem pleaded not guilty Friday to the charge of using a child in a display of sexually explicit conduct.

Christina Marie Lopez, 42, is set to appear before Judge Claudia M. Burton in Marion County Circuit Court at 1 p.m. Tuesday. The charge is a Class A felony with a maximum prison term of 20 years.

In December, Lopez complained to Salem police, the Oregon Liquor Control Commission and several media outlets, including the Statesman Journal, that her underage daughter was working as a stripper at Presley’s Playhouse Cabaret in South Salem.

During the investigation, police detectives obtained surveillance video from Presley’s that showed Lopez in the club, watching her daughter perform and providing her money.

Christina Marie Lopez, the 42-year-old mother of the girl, complained to police in mid-December of her daughter’s dancing at Presley’s Playhouse Cabaret in Salem.

The Salem Police Department says Lopez also complained to the Oregon Liquor Control Commission and local media outlets.

She said her daughter had come home drunk and she had found tall, platform shoes in the girl’s backpack. Lopez told KATU-TV News that she was disgusted by the incident and the strip club.

“It makes me sick,” Lopez said at the time. “Makes me really sick thinking, you know, she’s 17, but to me she still’s got a little kid’s body.”

Surveillance video from the club showed that the underage girl had, indeed, stripped there and the teen admitted she had done it. But now police say her mother knew exactly what her daughter was doing.

They say during their investigation, they saw Lopez on the club’s surveillance video at the same time that her daughter was there.

Lopez was taken into custody Friday at her home in Salem. Meanwhile, authorities are still investigating the case.

The Salem Statesman Journal reports Lopez on Friday pleaded not guilty to the felony charge of using a child in display of sexually explicit conduct.
